I didn't get a chance to make the tour, but the Rum that they produce is very good. I bought some to take to a friend sense it was made locally to where i live and he really enjoyed it.

We toured Bayou Rum with my extended family. It was interesting AND yummy. After the tour, we got to sample plenty of free rum and then looked around their nice gift shop.

Yes we had kids from ages 6 to 16 on the tour. As long as your kid is behaved (they have a yellow line you cannot cross into the production area) then I’d say why not.
