Things sure have changed here for the worse.
Jun 2021
This casino has the tightest slots of any other casino I have ever been to. This includes Las Vegas.

Do not order Asian food from the market place it was awful and the employees just want you to go away. They will not even look at you.. Terrace cafe food and service was much better.

Seven Clans-big disappointment!
Jun 2021 • Couples
We were not told of roof construction before our reservation? Reservation 10-15 Jun 21. This is our 1st stay at Seven Clans hotel: at check in we asked for a room high and quiet. Room 669 we thought would work for us older folk-not so. Due to Covid: no housekeeping-you must call the front desk for clean towels and have your trash removed. They will give you sheets to change the bed-but you do it yourself. The room is very dusty, carpet is stained and dirty, roof construction starts at 9:00am. We will not stay at this hotel again. We booked for 5 nights paying full price to see if we would visit more frequently. This hotel is truly a disappointment. Great they have opened the casino to full capacity with mask optional, why not have enough staff to do your housekeeping and valet service? We enjoy the casino and restaurants-will not be staying again. Unsatisfactory rating from us.

Decent hotel room, Super tight slots
May 2021
The Resort: We came in on a Friday night and the bright lights were easy to spot. Parking at night was a little confusing just due to the amount of people there. The regular lot in front was completely full so we had to park out on a shady looking side lot. Once we got in check in was easy but we weren't given any sort of information on anything. Hours, amenities, nothing. Not even Wifi (which is completely unsecured). They don't even have a splash page to login with your name and room number. Kind of scary. Anyways, I eventually went back down to ask for info on places to eat and just general info on whats available, hours, etc. The clerk didn't have info or brochures on anything. She was very nice and pointed everything out to me, but seemed strange not to have any info for anything. Food was pretty expensive for a Casino hotel. Not astronomical, but I'm not staying here for the food. I don't mind paying for good food, but $20 for something I can get at Panda Express was disappointing to say the least.

The Hotel Room: When I booked this trip I wanted to stay somewhere extra nice for my wifes birthday so I booked for the Grand Hotel. This was based off the websites claims of being "all-new", "luxury" and "completely renovated". While the room was ok, I certainly didn't feel like it was anything new, luxurious or renovated. The shower was nice and big but that is about the only thing that stands out. There was a small fridge a tiny microwave, both of which looked like they were the cheapest options at Wal-Mart. Both worked fine, but luxury? No.

The Casino: The nice part about the casino is that it's big. If you enjoy a large variety of slots, then it certainly won't be a problem. HOWEVER, these we're the tightest slots I've ever come across in my life. We would sit down at a penny slot with $20, order a drink and have to play slowly waiting for our drink to come. Not because the servers we're taking a very long time (usually within 5 minutes) but because the penny slots hammer your $2-$3 pull and pay $0.20-$0.30. It was a joke. We tried several different slot machines and while a couple were decent (meaning we could play for more than 5 minutes) the vast majority we're about the same as lighting your money on fire. About the same entertainment value as well.
On our second night we went and played tables games and had a MUCH better time.

The Staff: Probably the best part of the whole trip. Each staff member we spoke with was nice, courteous and assisted us as best they could. We had to ask for additional towels on our second day and the front desk called it in immediately. It took a while for them to show up (I assume because housekeeping or whoever is doing other things as well) but they were delivered to my room. Also, maybe this is common knowledge since the pandemic, but I didn't realize that they didn't clean your room, refresh your towels/soaps, etc. until you check out. So if you normally leave your room in chaotic disarray figuring the cleaning people will straighten up, they won't be doing so until after you leave.

Overall: I doubt I will be going to back to Coushatta. I guess some part of me was thinking that since it was a little bit further of a drive and everything said it was nice and renovated that it would be worth it. It wasn't. I've heard there are several other hotel casinos in Lake Charles that are nicer, actually newer and more fun so I'll be trying those first before heading back, if I ever do.

Great time!!!
Jan 2021
We have made the Coushatta Casino our stop on the way to Texas and on the way back to Michigan. We have always enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, the free drinks, and have always had lots of fun!! We were able to get a comped room and thought it was an awesome room, with a great set up!! Unlike hotel rooms with coffee makers in the bathroom, this room had a full "kitchen" area with the coffee, refrigerator and microwave . I absolutely LOVED it! The Casino was GREAT! We came out ahead after many hours gambling and had such a great time!!! We will be back , at least twice a year...too bad we didn't live closer!! Oh, Don't forget to golf at the Koasati Pines ...such a beautiful course!!!

Just not the same
Mar 2021 • Couples
Coushatta used to be our favorite place to play. We would drive the 5+ hours to make the trip passing up Lake Charles casinos to come here. This time has been the most disappointing yet. They now only serve alchohol from 8am to 11 PM. My husband an I played for a good 45 min at the bar to be told they cut off service at 10:45. I understand they have gone through a lot this year but why have a cut off for alchohol. It's just not the same and with the order from the machine option the only people I feel are missing out are the staff. It's just not the same...

Nice Hotel room, poor resort experience
Mar 2021
The hotel room was nice, comfortable and had a great shower. The disappointment was resort amenities. I understand the limitations from the pandemic. However, I think it would be helpful for hotel guests to know what amenities are available during thier stay. A simple handout at time of check-in of the restaurants open, hours, etc. would be helpful. We found out only 2 places to eat and one was taking reservations with 1.5 hour wait. The other was a food court style experience where the wait was at least 30 minutes. I was disappointed and would have appreciated knowing this up front and would have made a reservation. On a positive note, lots of air purifiers around the casino and I would say 90% of those patrons I saw were wearing masks.

Disappointed in Casino- Hotel nice
Mar 2021 • Couples
We went on Spring break Tues-Thurs. & there was a nice size crowd. So we were very disappointed the ONLY open restaurant was the Deli. The service & food quality is good, except for fast food breakfast & seating is limited...really???
Plenty of BJ tables & roulette, but only one 3card poker table for 3 days at a $15 limit...what a joke. Masks & social distancing are a pain but still the rules 4 now. We stayed at remodeled Grand Hotel which is very nice, except for the thick wood bed frame that kill your shins & feet. The beds are firm & comfortable.

Too high for food compared to before
Feb 2021 • Couples
We always stop by here on our trips. Last time was in April2020. This time things have really changed in Feb 2021, the restaurants all have increased prices big time. Don't know if trying to make up for lost revenue or what. $5 breakfasts are $8 to 10 now. Cheaper to eat dinner in town and support local businesses.
