TERRIBLE

TERRIBLE!!!
We were outraged that the website is not an accurate depiction of the ranch. The ranch only had a few horses when we arrived and to say they were poorly maintained is an understatement. If that is not bad enough, as soon as you step out of the vehicle you are greeted by the most unfriendly owner who bluntly ask you to step on a scale. (This is an embarrassment.) Even though we paid in advance and were under the "maximum" weight limit, we were not permitted to ride.
We tried explaining that we had traveled more than 4 hours to come ride and spend time with our children, but it was to no avail. The owner did refund for the parents only and had the nerve to ask me to refer people to them.
Terrible Experience. Would Never Recommend!

The Holidays horseback riding
Dec 2018
I started taking my daughters to Sunflower Ranch about ten years ago for Christmas when they were in grammar school. Today two daughters are in college and one in high school. They have all asked me to take them back horseback at sunflower ranch every years since that first Christmas. We now have a family tradition of going horseback riding at sunflower ranch with Mr. Nick, his wonderful staff, and gentle horses for the holidays.

I can tell you with absolutely no problem that you will have a wonderful time at Sunflower ranch with Mr. Nick and his staff. They are wonderful people who really work very hard to give you a great time at Sunflower ranch.

Great horseback opportunity in Folsom Louisiana
Aug 2019 • Solo
The ranch has place to roam if you are an experience rider they match you a horse and let you ride as long as you like.
The owner Nick is very nice a real horseman.
Hunter is guiding the people with children along the trails.
You really can ride as long as you like.
Even switch horses if you want to rest your horse.
The horses are well kept. Friendly and beautiful.
The have special horses for kids absolutely kid prove and the faster horses for experienced riders.
If you have the chance go for a ride here.
I added picture of Chief and Belle great horses to ride

Owner is horribly rude and gave false advertising on their website

First thing, there is nowhere on the website that says anyone over 200 lbs can only walk the horses. The other thing they left off their website is you can't run the horses even if you're under 200 lbs. Theres also the part where the owner lied and said there was a law that anyone over 240 can't ride. The horses were so old and looked like they hadn't been groomed in weeks. One of the poor things had his hips and spine sticking out. Others who have had horses their whole lives have even said the horses looked terrible and not taken care of. Two of us had experience and knew how to control a horse. Even after doing exactly what they instructed us to do, the horses refused to listen no matter how hard you kicked them. One fought against the reins no matter how much slack there was. One of them had also attacked the other two horses by biting and kicking them. That doesn't sound like a laidback horse that they claimed they were. On another review, the owner only read the part about the weight and essentially said we were complaining because we were too fat. I was a little under the weight limit, but the others were well under 200 lbs. The owner doesnt take kindly to bad reviews because he thinks his sorry ass can do no wrong. The good reviews probably come mainly from people who know nothing about horses and couldnt tell if there was something wrong.

Total waste of money. We will never go there again.

My Daughter and I both have experience with horses. We arrived at the ranch, directed where to park and was greeted by the owner of the ranch. The first thing the owner did was to take us to a scale to weigh us. The weight limit at this ranch is 240lbs. I was surprised that I was asked to get on the scale. I knew my Daughter would most likely be weighed but was shocked when the owner asked me to get on the scale. I am a short person and not overweight. Because my Daughter was over 200lbs, she was told to only walk the horse. When they brought the horses out I then understood the weight limit. These horses are very old and very underweight. It was lunch time so we went back to the barn where they had tables you could sit at and enjoy your lunch. After lunch, we rode around for a little longer. As soon as we got off our horses the poor horses were dragged back out again for new riders. I was shocked since my horse was breathing hard and another horse in our group had a cut just above his hoof. The staff was informed of the injury but did nothing for it. My Daughter and her partner were very unhappy with the ranch. We wrote a review about our experience there and that's when the owner showed his ugly side and responded with insults to us for being overweight, disabled, old and for not listening to the staff. First of all, we did listen to the staff and I'm not overweight or suffer from a disability that would hinder my riding. He insulted us over and over again.

My sister and I took my 6 yo granddaughter for a day ride. The price was excellent. $85 for 5 hours. If you go to Galveston it is $70 for 1 hour. The staff and owner are amazing.

This is a delightful setting. I cannot speak to the lodgings, but the meal was quite satisfactory. The restaurant offers a reasonable menu including very good salads. It is walk-up order.

The property also offers a wine tasting and gift shop building. The local wines are quite satisfying.
