Did the Hang Pygmy 2 day/1 night tour and had Captain as our guide. Was an amazing trip that I will never forget. Captain is a legend with a very calm confidence and along with the porters, I felt very safe. Got some amazing photos, met some amazing people, ate amazing meals (for the middle of the jungle) and saw some amazing things!!!
The staff work unbelievably hard to create this opportunity for customers. Full credit to them.
This tour is tough though - you will need to be fairly fit and not afraid of critters. Jungle trekking means a lot of sloshy mud. When it wasn’t mud it was scrambling up and down rocks or mountains with I swear, more than a 45° slope. The 3km section through the cave was the easiest part.
You’re in the wild so be prepared for bugs, lots of leeches, basic amenities (drop toilets at camp, behind a bush on the trail), simple sleeping arrangements, blood, sweat and tears lol.
If you want adventure and not afraid of hard work, this is the tour for you.
Many things are supplied. Make sure you read the packing list before going and wear sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting completely swallowed by mud. I would recommend you also bring anti-bac wipes for your hands (sanitizer does not clean off the dirt), an inflatable pillow, a jacket as it can get cold, big water bottle, tissues. Other than that, most things are covered.

We had the privilege to do the amazing 3 Day Hung Thoong Exploration with Jungle Boss - and oh boy was this a blast!
Jungle Boss is highly professional and we always felt safe and secure. Our guide, Tai, and guide in training, Son, as well as safety assistant, Bom, did a great job in guiding and supporting us through this highly demanding but rewarding adventure through the deep jungle of Phong Nha and its impressive caves. We climbed, did some abseiling, and even swim in the caves. What a experience! Also the porter team incl. cook were very kind and took good care of us.
The provided accommodation in the campsite (with a seating toilet in the middle of the remote jungle!) as well as the delicate cuisine blew our expectations. The price for value is also on point. Personally, it was the highlight of our 2 month travel in SE Asia. Would do it again (there are many other caves and treks available!) and will consider coming back for another adventure with Jungle Boss in the future. Highly recommended if you have the time, physical fitness and guts to go on this strenuous and rewarding adventure.

Our group of 8 were led into the jungle by Messi who was so funny, genuinely caring & knowledgeable and a group of equally hilarious porters who sang and laughed the whole 20 kms. Traversing through the jungle then into the HUGE caves which are basically untouched & wild is an experience that is one thousand percent worth the money.
Tips: the leech spray doesn’t actually work so just be mindful (but whatever right? It’s a good story to bring home!) wear good hiking shoes & make sure you’re ready for a long & strenuous hike (when they say it’s strenuous, they really mean it) the apsailing is quite safe so don’t be daunted, during the day it was quite hot and even more so for all the sweating and grunting while the evening was cooler but not cold so dress accordingly and don’t be disappointed if you don’t in fact get any “Happy water” (rice wine) we didn’t which I can honestly say was our only complaint.
An unforgettable experience in one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been!!!

I did this trek with 3 other friends on 20/11/2016. It can be quite strenuous if you are as unfit as me ;) However the caves and the climbing is completely worth it. We had lovely guides and porters carrying the life jackets and food. We were guided by Leo and Huyen who looked after us well.
Look out for the poison Ivy (make sure u were long sleeve shirts, long pants etc). They provide shoes you can wear which is very helpful as ull be walking through knee deep water and if you are backpacking like me wet shoes take forever to dry!!!.
It was a bit rainy when we went and in some places it can be scary trying to climb things, just make sure to take your time to get a grip at places.
There is no point bringing a change of clothes as you will be completely drenched either from your own sweat, the rain or both! Best part is the cold beer that you are given at the end of the whole thing to celebrate! ;) Definitely recommend doing this tour if you want to have a full on experience of the jungle in a short period of time.

We recently completed the Hang Pygmy 2 day 1 night Jungle/Cave Trek with Jungle Boss and had the most incredible experience.
We had the amazing tour guide, Huy, who guided us through the Phong Nha National Park jungle, educating us on the wildlife and animals found there and what life in the jungle is like.
The jungle trek was challenging but rewarding, but beware of the leeches! We were informed of the relevant precautions to avoid leech bites before undertaking the trek and were given insect spray to help protect ourselves.
Whilst on the tour we trekked 3.5 km in the Hang over cave, including a 6m abseil, we then explored and camped in the 4th largest cave in the world, the Hang Pygmy cave - it was amazing! The food and facilities supplied on the trip were great and it was a brilliant opportunity to meet fellow adventurers.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the 2 day 1 night trip with Jungle Boss and would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys adventure.

We went on the 3D/2N Tiger Cave Series tour this week, and it is an experience we will never forget. This Jungle Trek is something all adventurous people should try! It will leave you speechless both before, during and after.
The guides Bien and Nam kept us safe all the way through the mud and the caves, while the very nice and smiling porters always left a good laugh around the camp site.
We had amazing food every day and beautiful views throughout the trek. At first the leeches scared us a bit, but no one got bitten and we even saw flying squirrels. Do not hesitate to book a trip if you want to go offline for 3 days.

My husband and I did the one day trek to Elephant Cave, Mada Valley and Tra Ang cave. There was a group of 10 people + guides and each cave is less than a 20minute walk from the road. But in between, there is an hour hike, a waterfall pool to swim in, lunch, another hour hike. If you like the group tour experience + some physical exertion, this is great. The guides were personable and helpful, the lunch was a unique experience of making your own spring rolls with the pile of ingredients on a mat with everyone sitting around it. It was a pretty good hike of of climbing and rock scrambling.
But if you're not a fan of group tours, then you will find this moved really slow. A long time for everyone getting ready at the offices with very differing instructions from each guide - seemed rather disorganized. Then ending at the offices waiting for everyone to complete the surveys and get ready to be dropped back off at lodging. The caves were fine - something to see where you can't go on your own. But if you've been to a lot of caves around the world, these 2 are nothing spectacular. It was a nice way to spend a day while in Phong Nha, but this tour could be cut by about 2+ hours with a little more organization.

Had know idea Phong Nha even existed until coming upon Youtube video and saw Paradise cave, this I needed to see. We booked a day long tour to Paradise Cave a small cave shrine and a swim in a cave. These all were marvels of Mother Nature, Paradise cave recently rediscovered in 2010 was incredible as we hiked in a kilometer of a 31 kilometer cave. We walked to a small tragic site from the American war had a tasty jungle lunch and then a kilometer swim in Tra Ang Cave. All of these adventures stood on their own, but our tour guide Lily made it a 5 star experience. She was knowledgeable, professional, spoke excellent English as well a some German and her infectious energy and absolutely adorable demeanor reinforced that “good things come in small packages” highly recommend Jungle Boss tours, ask for Lily as your guide.

I did a Abandoned Valley Trek in the beginning of January, the weather was great, not too hot and no rain. The guides started off explaining the plan of the day then we drove to the hike start in a very unique little bus. Get ready, this trip is full of unforgettable expériences!! Our guide was sweet and funny, such a kind soul. We started off trekking in the jungle, this experience is not for those who have no experience hiking, lots of uphill. Be ready to lift your weight and bring good shoes. Luckily Jungle boss provides shoes and a clean towel. We reached our first stop - e cave - after a couple of hours. Swimming into the abyss, feeling sheer thrill and real darkness is the most alive I have ever felt.. again not for the faint of heart but I will never forget the moment we all turned off our headlamps and "saw" darkness. Next up we jungle hiked to the dark cave through a series of streams, had delicious lunch where our guide expertly showed us how to roll a spring roll and made our way into the cave, which (deserved) is called Dark. Not an easy hike inside, beware of sharp rocks and uneven formations. But if you ever wished to see what a beach inside a cave looks like, that's your chance. On our way out we were rewarded with a sight of a rare monkey, whose name I didn't catch and a gorgeous blue hour. The team is so kind and professional, I highly recommend! Don't be afraid of the price, it's worth the experience (you will really not be able to see something like this on your own), portion of which goes towards the National park and Vietnamese people. 5 stars!

This was one of the best trips my wife and I have had! When we arrived at the Jungle Boss Homestay, we were greeted with warmth and enthusiasm from Huyền. She has an adorable personality and made us feel like family for the short time we stayed there. The accommodations were pleasant and simple as you would expect in a small town. The pool area was nice with the restaurant and bar nearby.
The next morning, we met our guide, Messi, and our travel companions for the next 3 days and 2 nights on the Tiger Cave Series Tour. From the moment we met Messi, we knew we were going to have a great experience! After a 30-45 minute bus ride, we arrived at the start of the trail, covered ourselves up with gloves and high socks, and were thrust into the jungle trek which was no joke! When they say strenuous, they mean it. We hiked up and down steep narrow jungle trails, happy that we had protective gloves for the sharp rocks and trees that you need to hold onto to steady yourself. It’s about a 5 hour hike but once you arrive at Pygmy Cave, you forget about the tired muscles and gaze in awe at the grand cave opening.
The Jungle Boss team is well organized with the porters carrying the camping gear, meals, and safety equipment. All you need to carry is your backpack with your change of clothes and toiletries. They are well equipped with safety needs especially to treat those leeches that find a way to attach themselves to you no matter how you try to avoid them. We cannot say enough about the preparedness and delightfulness of the Jungle Boss team. Every single meal was delicious. They accommodated all diets as my wife and I are vegetarian, but our travel companions were not and we all enjoyed the food!
The first day’s trek ended with a swim in the cold but refreshing water in the pitch black Pygmy Cave that soothed our aching muscles. The tents, air mattresses, and sleeping bags were set up for us so all we had to do was rest our tired bodies and listen to the chirping sounds of the swallows as we slept.
Day 2 was spent exploring 3 caves so we were mainly hiking through the rocky terrain with our headlamps on. The rope climbing was fun, but shorter than we had hoped. We also loved swimming through the Tiger Cave to get to our campsite. What an experience! On Day 3, we hiked back out though the jungle to meet our bus with a cold beer waiting for us to celebrate our accomplishment. This trip is not for everyone as you need to be physically fit to endure the steep climbs/descents and uneven terrain but if you are ready for the challenge, we HIGHLY recommend Jungle Boss!

I'm looking for people who have done tours with swimming in late Dec or early January. I'm being told the water can be 12 degrees which is insanely cold. Too cold for swimming for anyone in Canadian terms and we are used to the cold. Did people swim a this time. We have cold water wetsuits. Should we bring them?
Nunca hemos hecho abseiling. Qué nos recomendáis? Gracias!

Hi MarijanAndCraig,
Thank you for your question. We don’t operate the Zipline. But as far as I know that they have a limited weight of under 100kg for the zipline due to safety reason.
There are many options that you can do instead of zipline such as jungle trek, swimming in the natural rivers, caving
Visit Jungle Boss to look for more options

Hello!
We are currently travelling through Cambodia and Vietnam. We only got 9 days in Vietnam so we would only be able to save 2 days for the Phong-na ke bang national park. But we still got some questions before going there. Is it possible to do so or is it not worth it if we can only spend two days there? What is the name of the village we should go to?
What about the prices of the tours?
Thanks in advance

The village is called Phong Nha and there are quite a few different hostels and homestays in the village or nearby and several of them run tours into the national park. We arrived yesterday and it's the most beautiful place we've been in Vietnam (we're in a homestay in the middle of rice fields about 8km from Phong Nha). We arrived about 3pm and went for a cycle around that afternoon and have just finished a cave tour. Definitely worth it. If I were planning our itinerary again I'd skip Hoi An and have much more time here. You can Google the tour prices pretty easily. There are lots of options. Hope you have a good time.

Hi, you need to get in contact with Jungle Boss - they are one of the best authorised operators for organising the trekking tours in Phong Nha. We also stayed in their homestay. We actually had only one day there and we need to come back for longer!!! It’s definitely worth it, awesome place! The tours are not cheap and it’s known in this area. You get top service and equipment. Please check Jungle Boss web site, they have all details in there.
Good luck and enjoy!

Hi! Just looking for people who have done the 'Ma Da Valley jungle camping 2 day/1night tour' (not 'Ma Da & Abandoned Valley Jungle Camping & Caving').
Is this the tour you did? I am just trying to find out people's experiences with the difficulty of the climbing/scrambling and hiking in general. We are both reasonably fit but the way some people talk about it, I'm a little worried!! haha. From what JB have told me, the abandoned valley tour is 'harder' but they both say moderate to strenuous.
Thank you!!

Me and my 9 year daughter old are coming to Vietnam next month. Is this a suitable tour for a 9 year old? as we would love to see the caves.

My daughter is 9 and we loved it. She is a bit of a mountain goat though! It is hard work and harder in the heat. You get very muddy and the shoes don’t offer much padding underfoot. I knew about it the next day.
That said, she was ahead of me towards the end as was our 11 year old. If your daughter can keep pace with hardy adults, she will be fine. It was an excellent tour but it isn’t a stroll.
