- Ella T52 contributionsWe have not seen a more beautiful cave in our lives, even on TV.The cave was not called paradise cave lightly. It cost 250,000VND per person which was worth it. We decided to walk to save money, it wasn't that far. You don't really need a buggy- if you feel you need a buggy you shouldn't go as there is lots of stairs up and down to the cave and inside. We have not seen a more beautiful cave in our lives, even on TV. We have never seen anything like it. The stalactites and stalagmite were out of this world, we felt we were on another planet. The 31.4 kilometre cave was discovered in 2005 by the British caving association and in 2019 was given the Asian world record for the most unique and magnificent system of stalactites and stalagmite in Asia. The photos do not do this place justice, we are so glad we were able to visit. The scale was hard to comprehend, you could have easily fit large buildings into the cave, and at some angles you could see hundreds of meters of tunnel.Dear our beloved guest, Thank you for visiting our Paradise Cave Eco Tourist Site We are delighted to know that you have a great time here and we hope to welcome you and your family again soon! - zardoz07Christchurch, New Zealand66 contributionsYou must visit Paradise caveA staggeringly beautiful cave. We came to Dong Hoi especially to visit the cave and generally would not go in a tour group but on this occassion picked up from hotel and easy transfer. It was an amazing cave and the other reviews give a great indication. We then had an amazing platter lunch. A lot of healthy excellent food. Victor was an excellent guide. Highly recommend you visit this cave! Great guide with Adventure tour and Ms Huyen, thank you! - Lucinda J N9 contributionsBeautiful caveAmazing cave. We rode motorbikes early to the cave. Ride itself is beautiful. It's a short walk from the carpark to the entrance then a windy track to the cave. Cost 250k each. Was really impressive inside cave . - ShannonSuva, Fiji1,137 contributionsSpectacularGetting to the cave itself isn't difficult the tracks up from the Ticket area are nicely done and the climb gradient from the base to the cave entrance isn't steep. They designed the tracks well to make it easy to access. The stairs within the cave entrance is the one which is a bit steep but it also is well fitted with hand rails. I was hugely impressed with the investment into proper viewing walkways within the cave which makes the whole experience most enjoyable. Highly recommend and a cave not to be missed!Dear our beloved guest, Thank you for visiting our Paradise Cave Eco Tourist Site We are delighted to know that you have a great time here and we hope to welcome you and your family again soon! - Shelley MAlbany, New Zealand905 contributionsWonder of natureWe got our Phong Nha accommodation to drive us here and wait for us which was very convenient as it is a fair way out of town. From the ticket office you have 2 options, the stairs (left) or the ramp (right) which take you up to the cave entrance. The entrance seemed smallish but wow it is the biggest, massive, huge etc and a huge wow - a must do! There are a lot of stairs, has wooden platform to walk around and enough lighting to see where you are going but you need to take care for small kids or elderly as there are not handrails at their height. Go slowly and enjoy. We stopped for so many photos that look great. The board walk goes for 1km and the view just gets better and better. Just a stunning cave that will be memorable. Well worth the trip to see this. We prefer not doing it on a tour as we had an elderly person with us and wanted to take our time and not be rushed which was a great decision. There are toilets and places near carpark for drinks, food and market style stalls plus a place near the entrance for drinks etc too. We managed in wearing jandels but noticed a lot of people had running shoes on which would be more sensible. There is a golf cart service you can pay for to drive you closer to the cave, but this is on the flat part, so I really don't get the point of that. The hard part is the walk up to the entrance either stairs or ramp, either way you will be a sweaty mess. It is worth it.Dear our beloved guest, Thank you for visiting our Paradise Cave Eco Tourist Site We are delighted to know that you have a great time here and we hope to welcome you and your family again soon! - India11Guildford, United Kingdom912 contributionsWonderful cave - go in the afternoon to avoid crowdsAbsolutely amazing and vast cave. We only had one day to visit Phong Nha cave in the morning and then Paradise cave in the afternoon, with a private driver. Most of the tour to these caves the other way round, and it was brilliant being in Paradise cave when it was so empty. We literally could not see anyone else for several long sections, and it was so quiet. We only had time to visit these two caves, and not do any of the treks, but it was brilliant and well worth the journey to get there. It is part of a limestone mountain and is surrounded by a primeval forest in Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park. * There are two options for tickets here. One is only two kilometers walking. And another one is 14 km trekking with the local guide and supporters. You should contact them in advance to prepare better for departure. You will have a memorable trip @ Vietnam here. Incredible and surreal piece of mother nature. Give yourself plenty of time (2-3 hours). It is an impressively engineered walk/boardwalk, staircases that lead down and through the most gorgeous, intricate cave system arguably on the planet. Whomever set the lighting throughout the kilometers of walkways did a brilliant job to allow one to see the colors, the shapes, and yet feel the nature rather than the lighting.
Well worth the time to get here.

Not for the faint hearted. There's an impressive hike to get to the start of the cave!! I'd say it's about 5km from when you park up to the entrance of the cave. As far as we can tell there are three options to visiting this place. 1km which is a well established path for 1km and well lit and you can go in solo and just pay 250,000 dong. Then there seems to be two tour options which go up to 4km and 7km where theres crawling and climbing involved. 1KM IS ENOUGH! After a while it's all just the same...!

Visited Paradise Cave as part of a 20 day private tour of Vietnam. We were based in Dong Hoi and visited as part of a day trip. We arrived reasonably early in the morning and there was little to no crowd.
We were a bit surprised by the climb up to the entrance, but even though my partner and I are in our 50's, overweight and have chronic knee injuries, we both made it ok using the ramp. It's a 670m walk from the bottom to the top via the ramp. After a short rest we headed down the stairs into the cave system. There's probably about 200 to 300 stairs top to bottom.
Having visited other limestone caves in the past, I found Paradise cave to be on par with the best of them. For anyone who has visited Hastings Caves in Tasmania, Australia, they are very similar.
I'd recommend this activity to anyone with a reasonable level of fitness and mobility.

This is the biggest tourist cave I've visited. It is huge with lots of stunning formations and well lit. You need to walk about 1.5km from the car park or pay extra for a buggy ride. The walk is on a nice shady paved path. Once you arrive at the bottom of the cave, you need to walk 570m uphill to reach the entrance. There is no way other than walking to get up. I really enjoyed this place and would recommend it!

Did the short 1/2 day visit - all on the built wooden walkway. It is really well done. I have been to several caves that were not lighted and I thought this one will be very touristy because it is lighted and have a walkway. But to my surprise, the lighting is done very tastefully with white light, none of the christmasy calor lights, and the rock formations are gorgeous.
If you visit during rainy season (June - Nov), most likely you can only do the short 1km walk and cannot go beyond the wooded walkway due to flood danger.

A true spectacle of jaw-dropping, colourful stalactites and stalagmites in every shape and form. The 1km (of this 31km cave) open to the general public is accessible via wooden staged steps from the cave's entrance at the top of the cave and then via wooden boardwalks with viewing areas and lighting to make the formations even more spectacular. A bit of a hike up a paved, steep at times, but winding path to get to the entrance, it is worth every step... Just go!!

We did the guided full day 7km+ tour into Paradise Cave with Loc (Lucky). It was incredible - the darkness, quiet, rock formations, underground rivers, etc. are an experience that's difficult to fully describe. Lunch in the doline and swimming in the dark were highlights. Our guide Loc and the porter were terrific - all about safety and comfort while keeping it super interesting. Highly recommend.

This cave would have to be one of the best in the world. It is big, and richly decorated. The infrastructure is well done, and the lighting is effective in showing off the cave to best effect. I did the standard tour. If I was younger and more agile, I'd have loved to do the 7km adventure tour.

I don’t know if this worth a stop or is better go directly with train from Ninh Binh to Hue.
Thanks a lot
Ciao, è fattibile con una bambina di quattro anni? Sto cercando di capire se valga la pena fare una deviazione o se prendere il treno notturno da Ninh Binh a Hue!
Grazie mille

for the 7k. Can it be cheaper than $115 or is that price standardized. Any recs on tour operator? thanks!

If you go there by yourself it is 250,000 dong entrance fee. I would suggest doing this unless you are looking to do a 7km adventure deeper into the caves.

Hola, voy a estar en Hue en agosto y quiero conocer Phong Nah Cave y Paradise Cave.Puedo hacer estas 2 cuevas en el mismo dia por mi cuenta desde Hue?Gracias
Written June 25, 2018
From Hue to Phong Nha would take you 4hrs by bus. It means you could visit 2 caves if you would leave in the early morning, let's say: at the latest 5o'clock in the early morning. Then you would arrive Phong Nha at 9o'clock. You could walk from bus station to ticket counter, it would take you about 15minutes. Just ask at the bus station if they would have a private car to Paradise cave and how much it costs? What time it would leave from Phong Nha. From Phong Nha to Paradise cave would be about 40minutes by car.
You would have to go with a boat to Phong Nha cave. It would take you 20-25minutes from the boat station to the cave. You would spend maybe 2hrs. Then you could head up to Paradise cave. On top of Phong Nha Cave, there is another small dried cave but you shouldn't visit it, it would just loose your time. Save the time to go to Paradise cave.
You would spend another 3hrs at Paradise cave .
I hope this info could help you a little bit.
Enjoy your trip.

Hello, I wanted to ask if it's possible to go to the caves - Paradise and Phong Nha caves in particular, arranging the trip by myself without booking through a tour agency. Appreciate if you can share any experience. Thank you :)
Written May 11, 2018
Hello again!
I believe Paradise Cave was 250,000VND, which isn’t cheap; however, it is still cheaper than a guided tour.
I’m not sure about the cost of Phong Nha Cave but it should be cheaper than Paradise.
Also, to agree with one of the previous comments, if you are doing Paradise Cave on your own, go at an off-peak time. We went in the early morning and there was barely anybody there!
Good luck :)
