More than a museum, the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center is also a music hall and a kind of public kitchen, where cooks prepare Cajun specialties for the tasting.

This was a pleasant museum that showcased the Cajun lifestyle in the Louisiana prairies. If you've visited the other Jean Lafitte sites (like in Lafayette) a lot of the elements will seem really familiar, however this is clearly a different lifestyle. I do with the museum was more up-to-date. The displays end at the "present day" in 1986, so they're... More

We were there on a rainy afternoon, and actually ended up staying all afternoon, until almost 6pM when we went to the radio show at The Liberty theater. Nice exhibits, there was a very nice Cajun band, we attended a cooking class, and we watched some of their videos.

We went by Saturday afternoon and amusicians were "jamming" to zydeco music. It was excellent. Older couples were dancing to the music. It was a very very pleasant time. We visited the history memorabilia and later we were served sweet pie. We met a wonderful local and chit chatted quite some time, talked about the Cadiens. The Centre staff were... More

This was our last stop on our touring around the Acadian area of Louisiana. Great film shown in their theater on the culture of the area. Very friendly & helpful Park Ranger also.

A most pleasant way to spend Saturday afternoon. We listened to music and danced for an hour or so. The band was almost unplugged, just enough amplification for the guitar, fiddle, and vocals to keep from being drowned out by the accordion, which is naturally a loud instrument. We liked the exhibits, too. We didn't stay for the cooking demonstration,... More

An awesome place to enjoy and learn about the Cajun cuisine and The life of the Cajun in Louisiana. Enjoy the day learning the Cajun culture and then walk next-door to the liberty theater for a Saturday night of Cajun music

We were in the area visiting and decided to pop in and just check it out thinking that it would be maybe a 20 min visit. However when we arrived we were able to watch a video that although dated provided a wealth of information. I really was unaware of the struggle that the Acadian people endured. After the video...
