Recommend the guided tour. Worth the money and the money helps support a noble cause: preserving the plantation's history. Definitely enough here to fill the better part of a day, especially if you are someone interested in museums and history already.

I loved this place! Our tour guide Beverly was so great and I loved learning all about the plantation and how it operated during that time. Highly Recommend for sure!

We had a free couple of hours before catching a flight home from New Orleans and stopped at Destrehan. Along with an interesting plantation house, the property includes slave quarters and demonstrations related to construction. Well worth a visit.

Great tour, cool gift shop and close to the airport. Our guide was very knowledgeable and the different cabins with printed signs were very educational. Would highly recommend a visit!

The plantation is bigger than I thought. Docent in period costume is a nice touch. There is even a demonstration of tools used in carpentry for construction of building during that time.

We had an excellent tour guide and really appreciated learning about the 1811 revolt. They were also flexible with our tour time which was helpful. Thank you!

We expected more "dust road" walking on steamy hot day; was NOT the case. Not stressful close in buildings; most A/C'd. Great guides; all better than expected

Plantation life sounds like it would have been so cool .. Big porches, summer breezes and lots of lemonade and mint juleps .. And, maybe, it was for the family who owned/operated the property. But the reality is that many enslaved persons performed all the...More
