Today we had a family celebration for a retirement and we thought Homas House would be a great place to celebrate. On Friday, August 19, 2016 I called to make a reservation for eleven of which three are children. They person taking my reservation assured me we would have the buffet and a menu to order from. That was good... More

This is one of the BEST plantation houses in Louisiana you should visit. I always take my visitors to this first and everyone who has visited, love it.. Not only is the House amazing, so are all the grounds, and they are constantly updating them. The oaks are also amazing... I just love this place.

I've toured a lot of restored historical houses in many places, but I've never been more impressed than with Houmas House. The house and gardens are beautiful, but the real treat was our historical interpreter who managed to put on a great show without seeming overly cheesy. Also the tour was more relaxed than most others I have been on... More

Houmas House was our favorite plantation and garden tour. Our guide Susan, was so knowledgable as the complicated ownership and restoration was explained. The present owner, Mr. Kelly, lives in the plantation and has a welcoming attitude for his visitors. Our guide noticed that I was using a cane, on the day of our visit, and told the group that... From the minute we stepped onto the gorgeous grounds, we had the feeling that we had just stepped back in history. The property is so well maintained and adds to the peaceful and calming experience walking around the gardens. Every attention to detail added to the natural beauty of the plantation for a breathtaking experience. The house is an exciting... More

As many have said it does not depict the true time period but it is a gorgeous setting. The grounds are stunning, the house is beautiful and the guide gave an enjoyable accounting of its history. The fact that the house is air conditioned and had an elevator was a bonus. For those of us less mobile the fact that... More

We really enjoyed our entire experience at Houmas House! The gardens were beautiful and relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast and dinner at the Carriage House. We also experienced the best historical tour of the plantation with Mrs. Susan Harris Forman. We will be back for years to come to enjoy the grounds year round.

Houmas house retains its gorgeous gardens and the tour guides take you back in time with the plantations colorful history. Its doors are not just for curious tourists during the day, you can have a meal in one of their four restaurants (open at diffuser times), stay on the premise and rent it out for events. A good afternoon stop... More
