We took the two hour tour with our guide Jimmy who was great! Before we even got on the boat all the staff was helpful and friendly. Seeing that we had telephohoto camera equipment, they had us board the boat last, and they placed us up from for the best angles. Jimmy knew where all the wildlife was hiding out, a bunch of interesting swamp and bayou facts, and was happy to backup or turn around so that everyone could see what we found during our trip around the lake. We saw all sizes of Alligators (plus babies inside a nest), Red Eared Sliders, Great Blue Herons, Little Blue Herons, Great White Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Yellow-Crowned Herons, Black-Crowned Herons, Roseate Spoonbills, American Crows, American Kestrel, Red Shouldered Hawks, Osprey, Anhingas, Swallow Tailed Kite, Cormorants, Black-Bellied Whistling Ducks, Red Bellied Woodpecker, Pileated Woodpecker, American White Ibis, and a Bald Eagle. Completely worth the money!

We had a wonderful and informative conversation about the area as we waited for our tour. Everyone that works there is so friendly. Allen was our tour guide . He did a great job of not only making sure we saw the wildlife but sharing many interesting facts that even my kids, 13 and 10, listened to. He is really easy to talk to and very entertaining. His appreciation and respect for this beautiful area definitely shows and made us fall in love with the swamp.

We joined the Champagne boat tour wanting to see the beauty of the swamp and our guide, Harriet, more than delivered.

She is a very knowledgeable and fantastically pleasant guide, who knows all the animals' lurking spots as well as the best photo locations. She is also the region's native and her previous, (gator-connected!) job, means that she has many gasps inducing anecdotes to pepper the information about the swamp and the animals with.

Lastly, we were keen on trying the gator, and she has recommended a fantastic little place that looks like an incarnation of all things cajun. The gator we got was delicious, and we can't wait to show off the souvenirs, like gator boudin and gator jerky, to our friends up north.

Thank you, Champagne's Cajun Swamp Tours and thank you, Harriet!

This place was recommended by a trusted friend. Sadly, the man who answered the phone was very uninterested in helping me to secure an actual time for my paddle booking. Because I asked to book a paddle at sunset, he took that to mean I wanted a sunset tour. He told me not less than $150 to take 1 person out I said that I have never been charged that for a kayak rental. Then he said ok, kayak rental. It doesn't pay me to stay open for $12 so you can see the sunset. I said ok, what time would work for you, I have to drive in from Dallas. He said how about 1-3. I said great. What do I need to do to secure the deposit? He said I can't make any guarantees about what time I will be here until on Thurs. I said, well how am I supposed to plan/coming from out of town. He said " I suggest you call another kayak company then."

The swamp and bayou is beautiful and mysterious but our guide Jonathan did a great job of educating us on the eco system. He was really entertaining too and a had a sharp eye for alligators and birds. This was a 2-hour tour in a long shallow metal boat that could get everywhere. I would definitely recommend Champagnes for an authentic swamp tour experience.

A must do while in the area. A beautiful lake, swamp and landscapes. Jimmy, our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the area as well as the fauna and trees/plants that occupies this lake. You will see lots of gators and birds that make for great pictures for a lasting memory.
I definitely recommend this tour to all!

My son and I absolutely enjoyed our tour here. It is a great way to get out of the house during COVID and still be able to have the social distancing and experiencing Because of this, we were able to enjoy a private tour. The lake has calm water for easy navigating and we weren’t bothered by any mosquitos, spiders or roaches.

My son and I had a tandem canoe while our guide, Kayla, had single kayak. There are multiple options for seating arrangements. Kayla provided a great combination of information, enjoying kayaking and the beautiful surroundings.

This is an experience I would recommend to anyone!

Thank you!

Tell more about the lake and swamp instead of telling jokes. Cover more area instead of sitting still for no reason other than to pass the hour. Don't charge full price for toddlers that have no idea what they are looking at. When the guide is asked a question, answer that question instead of ignoring the guest or telling another joke.

This was an amazing experience. Our guide Jonathan led a lively and informative tour. We saw plenty of alligators, turtles, and a wide variety of birds. It’s hard to explain why the tour was so much fun—The sum was bigger than the parts. We came away with a heightened sense of the beauty (and fragility) of Cajun swamps, bayous, and Lake Martin. Don’t miss out on this swamp tour!

We just took this tour for the second time. This time we brought the kids, and as expected, the tour did not disappoint. We learned even more than the first time, though we didn’t see quite as much wildlife as on our first trip (simply due to the season... the first time we went was in February, so we will likely take our next tour around that time of year again.) Lake Martin is GORGEOUS, and our Tour Guide, Jimmy, was a wealth of knowledge and super friendly. We will definitely continue recommending this tour to friends, as a fantastic and reasonably priced adventure. One word of caution would be to make sure to bring cash to pay for your tour, otherwise it will cost more. (It would have been $20 extra for our family of 4 had we not paid cash.)
