Really enjoyed our early morning canoe trip on the lake. Great opportunity to do some swamp photography.

I never thought I would see a beautiful swamp but Lake Martin is breath taking. Serene; diverse wildlife; no mosquitoes; unusual plants. Do not miss an opportunity to tour Lake Martin!

This is a very interesting to see all types of wildlife and enjoy the adjacent swamp. The duck blinds in the lake are interesting.

I've been to Lake Martin many times. What you see changes as the seasons do. Some times all you see are nutrias, sometimes tons of different kinds of birds. Others lots of alligators. A drive down Rookery road holds something different around every turn. Its a must see destination.

We found Lake Martin as we arrived for a tour of the swamp with Cajun Country Tours (which we can recommend). Along with tours there is a boardwalk where you can venture into the lake and see the swamp areas near that boardwalk. There is a rookery for the birds there, which was closed to visitors since we visited during... More

If you walk to the end of the jetty, you can see birds flying very closely overhead. Rent a kayak from Cajun Country boats right as you arrive at the lake, and you can quietly glide right up to the animals in the swamp. There are no mosquitos because the trees secrete tannins into the swamp, so just bring sunblock!
