Amazing experience! A must do experience to PV. Your ticket is good for 2 visits within same week if you have the time for that. We wanted to do every trail and relax at river, swim, and eat at the gorgeous restaurant so we found an extra day allowed us to relax and take it all in. The bus back, across the street and up hill a few hundred feet at bus shack was easy and 30p to get to romantic zone. Taxi stand is there also at gate so pay a little more and drive back in comfort, as the bus was hot, crowded and bumpy but if you have a good spine and back, it’s survivable! 😂 THE gardens Open at 9am- 200peso and reservations ahead are not needed. But worth calling to confirm it is open. They close at 6pm but some trails close at 5 pm. Check hours at restaurant as they may also close at 5, not sure. Lots to see and do. We went at a time that we didn’t really need bug spray but did get a few bites so def don’t forget that. And bathing suit if you wish to cool off in river on rio or chachalaca trails.

We’ve visited many Gardens (Maui, Denver, San Diego) but this by far was one one of the most beautiful. The koi pond has huge fish and lili pads. The trails all are well maintained and at every turn there is something different to see. We especially liked the restaurant and gift shop on site. The church Is spectacular. Don’t miss out on the black pepper tree next to its entrance. The leaves of the tree are actually edible but be careful! Just a small bite will numb your tongue. The entrance fee is good for a week so we’re planning to return again within the week for another visit. The morning is the best time for a visit in order to miss the heat and humidity later in the day.

We took the El Tuito bus on the corner of Aquacate and V. Carranza. The fare (2022) was 30 peso/person. The bus ride to approximately 50min with the stop directly in front of the VBG. The entrance fee was 200peso/person and good for 2 visit within the same week. There are a lot of hiking trails around the gardens and we really enjoyed exploring all of them. It was so enjoyable to be able to hike down the river and just enjoy the sights and sound around you. There are so many beautiful plants and flowers and just really enjoyed walking different garden areas. The restaurant on the premises was excellent… great food and drinks and loved watching the hummingbirds! The restaurant overlooks the mountains and offers a spectacular view! We will definitely going to back on our next visit.

We have owned a home in PV for many years. A few years ago we moved closer to the Gardens and became members. We eat at the restaurant weekly, frequently twice/week when in town which has been essentially full-time throughout the pandemic.

Membership gets “free” admission for you and a guest and 10% off in the restaurant. Another benefit of being a member WAS driving your car up to the gate, not getting out, paying if necessary for other people, and driving to the restaurant to park. They now make you get out and stand in line. We did not know this when we recently renewed our membership.

The restaurant, which is quite good (not a bargain but that’s expected at a place like this), seems to have an entirely new wait staff. High-season requires additional staff of course, but the servers we have come to know and enjoy all seem to be gone.

There is also a new, discourteous, unprofessional receptionist (main entrance, not restaurant). She is rude as she struggles with basic communication…simply NOT front desk material for an international tourist attraction! Unfortunately, her repeated rudeness has ruined it for us. It only takes one bad apple. We might actually be missed when the slow-season comes and the restaurant is empty.

Lastly…we have been to many botanical gardens. This a beautiful place. Any nature lover will enjoy the hiking trails, river, and gardens. BUT, as others have noted, the “finished” gardens contain a lot of potted plants and plants you will likely recognize. We would say it’s definitely worth a visit for vacationers despite our own specific disappointments as former regular customers.

We spent the day at the beautiful Puerto Vallarta Botanical Garden today. It's a 30 minute taxi ride from Old Town in Puerto Vallarta, 350 pesos plus tip.

Upon arrival at the garden, we were greeted with a free cool drink of hibiscus tea, and offered a guidebook with map of the site. We explored for a couple of hours, admiring the the beautiful plants, and going up and down the trails. In the centre of the facility there are smooth paths and cultivated garden displays, that are easy for walking. Beyond are steeper paths and stairways into the jungle, where interpretive signs explain what the plants are, and how they are grown, and used for food or medicine. We brought bug spray, but weren't bothered by mosquitos. We admired the giant fish in the koi pond, the abundant bird life, and even some interesting spiders and ants (nothing threatening!) It was a very hot day, but there were cool breezes, and we were mostly in the shade of the tall trees. Along the way, we found places to stop, sit and admire the view. We walked down to the river, and saw that we could wade or swim there.

After a couple of hours of exploring, we made our way to the restaurant for lunch. The setting is gracious, with a panoramic view of the jungle and river below. Hummingbirds visited the feeders around the open-air balcony, and musicians entertained us while we enjoyed our meal. We sampled a delicious avocado salad, and 2 pizzas, made in their big brick pizza oven. Along with some cervezas and non-alcoholic drinks, it was the perfect lunch. We only skipped dessert because we had plans for choco-bananas later!

Throughout the garden and restaurant, the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and professional. In the gift shop, they helped us find just the right items to take home. We are glad that sales there benefit the garden.

When it was time to leave, there were taxis waiting, with prices clearly posted. The public bus stops just outside of the garden too, if you prefer a more economical ride. I recommend a visit to this beautiful spot.

Well worth a trip if you're in the area and entrance is not overpriced, which made it great value for money. A delightful experience to see the flora and fauna of Mexico, with some really spectular birds and beautiful restaurant overlooking the gardens. Wear walking shoes, some of the trails are just not suitable for sandles and get there early, it's a very popular spot. Goregous gift shop with some unusual knickknacks.

The gardens are a nice get away from the busy area of downtown. We have taken a tour to the gardens and Uber to the gardens for a self guided tour. I highly recommend doing a self guided tour this will allow you to spend as much time as you want in the different areas of the garden e plowing the terrain. Bring good walking shoes to the garden. Do not wear sandals or flip flops as the around us uneven with roots. You are in the hills of Vallarta and the temperature is cooler with a slight breeze. We uber to the gardens for 300 pesos and took a taxi back to old town with a set rate of 350 pesos.

Beautiful place, with amazing staff, delicious food and diverse nature.
The drive to the botanical gardens is beautiful, there is no data there so if you take an Uber, on the way back you'll have to ask the front staff to call you a cab which takes around 15 minutes.
The property is very well kept and the trails are gorgeous, some parts of the trails are a bit strenuous but beautiful. The restaurant has a great breeze going all the time to cool off after a hike/walk.
The restaurant has amazing food and the gift shop has a great collection of gifts that are reasonably priced.
A great experience!

Puerto Vallarta Botanical gardens is a stunningly beautiful tropical paradise and I've rarely seen such displays of brilliant color that the Rhododendron and other plants provide. The orchid collection showcases some of the largest and most colorful that I've had the pleasure of seeing along with a myriad of fascinating succulents. The sheer variety of colors, textures, butterflies, and landscapes will make even the most surly person light up with joy. Let me mention the chapel now. I have seen many glorious churches in Europe and honestly this whimiscally bright little chapel is as interesting and beautiful in many ways as the grand cathedrals and chapels of Europe. It is so charming with it's brightly colored bird and plant themes. Now to talk about the restaurant. This was my Renoir of dining experiences and I don't know if I will ever top it. The food was very tasty, the waitstaff was spot- on attentive, and the open air balcony dining offer some extraordinarily interesting moments that I will treasure. Hummingbirds buzz within a few feet of your table as you look in awe at lush tropical forest and mountains populated by some of the most intriguingly colorful birds and plants that are on our lovely Earth. We thouroughly enjoyed our day at the PV botanical gardens, we plan to return, and I highly recommend this parauso as strongly as I've ever recommended any place.

We took an Uber for the 40 minute ride to the Botanical garden from PV's Zona Romantica. From the moment we arrived we were enchanted. The flora and fauna of the garden felt magical. This garden is a work of love. It was founded by foreigners who came under the spell of the green green valley and the unique jungle mountain scenery, is supported by a huge group of volunteers and is run by cheerful, well informed locals whose English is excellent. Just to see the orchids is worth the visit. The garden also grows orchids and I was thrilled to be able to buy a lady slipper to add to my Mexican landlord's collection. We came prepared to hike the garden's trails and indeed got some great exercise. We visited the river which is sublime. We were nearly alone by the river and spent some time meditating while sitting on the enormous rounded boulders that caress the river on all sides. The water is very cold so we didn't swim. We had lunch in the restaurant accompanied by delightfully romantic music provided by a duo playing the key board and the violin. We were a little disappointed in our lunch as the food was adequate but not great. My partner's club sandwich contained delicious chicken and bacon but also highly processed cheese slices, unappetizing ham and was lacking in the lettuce, tomato and mayo category. My shrimp tacos would have been better with some chipotle mayo. The watermelon fresca welcome drink was delicious and much appreciated. There is a local bus to the Garden but I could not persuade my partner to hop on. The taxi ride we took back was fine, easy, nice driver and cost $300 pesos before a tip. The bus is $50 and takes only 20 minutes longer! This is best done as a full day outing. There is lots to see and do and enjoyj!!
