About
Perdeberg Wines, nestled in the shadow of the Paardeberg Mountain in Paarl, adopted its name from scores of Mountain Zebra that once roamed its foothills, mistaken for wild horses by the Dutch. Established in 1941, our wines are rooted in a tradition of producing award winning wines grown in various micro climates in the area. The superior quality of Dry Land vineyards and our innovative winemaking techniques combine to produce premium wines of world class quality. At Perdeberg Cellar, we prefer to set trends rather than follow them and we never compromise the exceptional quality of our wines. Restaurant open from Wednesdays to Sunday and Wine Tasting available daily for wine tasting, Marshmallow pairing, Chocolate pairing and kiddies options. Wedding and conference facilities available.

    Wine tasting with cheese platter
We wanted to do the wine tasting, but ended up getting very comfortable on the sofas with a delicious cheese platter. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The products on the platter could be bought at the restaurant. Loved the red o ion marmalade and tomato- chili-ginger jam. The outside seating is close to a children’s play area.

    Great Braai Picnic
We visited the restaurant at Perdeberg for their “Braai Picnic”. What a fantastic experience! The wine was amazing, the sparkling grape juice apparently also very nice and the food was excellent as well as value for money. Highly recommended.

Our second visit to Perdeberg for wine tasting and lunch.
Wine tasting and wine great, well priced. Bought sum more sav blanc. Lericia and staff of wine hall friendly and proficient.

However, day was spoilt by an arrogant shef called Rob who charged me R240 for a veg pizza with 8 small prawns!
He arrogantly rejected my complaint and offered me a mere R50 discount which I refused in principle.

I pay R135 for a Superb Marinara pizza at Laborie in Paarl.

I paid the full amount after I gave up arguing with Mr shef Rob. I also paid full gratuity but
Perdeberg will Never see us again.
Mr Robb Hunn you win with your R240 pizza...Perdeberg you loose...to use to overcharging tourist and foreigners???
PS Thank You Lericia who tried to defuse the situation with a complementary bottle of good wine. Thank you for your professional intervention.
Shef I hope you sleep well but will never order from your kitchen again.
Good Bye Perdeberg

What can I really say here but what a disappointment this was? I was really looking forward to this as the pairing they had on offer seemed so promising. It is called the Barrel and Hops (R70) and is a Grenache Blanc 2015 with a pale ale paired and butternut soup; then Malbec 2015 with a pilsner and mushroom soup; and last their Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 combined with a lager and tomato soup.

We had made a booking and arrived quite early and were told to take our seat. After about 10 minutes or more we had to ask for service. This brought someone who gave us a glass of MCC and said the soup was being prepared. After a little wait the soup came and the beer and wine was poured. The manager then told us someone would be along shortly to explain the pairings to us. Another 10 minutes later after no-one came we started as our soups were getting cold (and were not that hot to start with). When we got to the second pairing I wanted some info on the wine and again went to the counter to get assistance. Eventually someone came to assist us and she said she didn't know what the 2 reds were as 'it was a new pairing' and would find out. She came back and gave us the info. In the entire time we were there we never saw our waitress again once, she looked very lost (long dark-haired girl).

My friend actually asked me if we could just leave. When she went outside to have a cigarette I complained to one lady there who came to help me pay but was not even on duty that day! She was friendly and offered me a bottle of wine as an apology, she is the only reason that I gave 2 stars.

In terms of the wine, beer and soups, I would suggest they change the pairings, the beers don't work as they are. I loved the Malbec, it is a great wine and probably one I will buy regularly in future. The soups were decent, if a bit cold. And I loved the APA as well. It is a small venue and not really suitable to a large group and we saw some people leave as not enough place for them. Think this place has potential but they need to work on their service, especially considering the fact that I specifically drove 30kms just to visit this winery.

We stopped here for a tasting while on a private wine tour with Wine flies. The winery has a nice atmosphere and the server was friendly and knowledgeable. The wines were good and very reasonably priced.

We went for a Saturday wine tasting and light lunch. My wife had the wine and chocolate pairing. To be honest i dont hink that this pairing adds anything to the experience, its more a gimmick than anything else. I found the wines to be ok.

We had pizza and i enjoyed the pizza more than the wine tasting.

But it is a nice setting, close to our home and a farm we will visit again, if not for the wine for the food as the burgers looked pretty good.

My husband and I booked the new winter picnic at Perdeberg wine farm. Although weather did not permit that we sit outside, our picnic turned out nonetheless, to be a warm snug event within closed doors under a much needed heater- and I haven't even gotten to the food yet. The tray was laden with a variety of tapas each unique and mouthwateringly delicious. Flavours were inspired by warm Indian spices (pakoras and curry), earthy classics (beef pot pie) and French favourites (salmon & creme fraiche crepes and creme brulee). Their 2015 rooted merlot was spectacular. It was because we loved their wines so much that we came in the first place. Lastly service is especially welcoming. Definitely recommend this farm! Will be back.

Focus was on wine tasting of excellent wines. Ordered a platter that was not served. Cappucino a bit weak - had to ask for some more coffee to make it drinkable. Play area for children in same area as wine tasting - nearly hit by a ball narrowly missing wine glasses and my head.

We visited the estate on Women's Day and had a beautiful sunny day. The wines are average but the gourmet platter was phenomenal. We will definitely go back to experience some of the other wines as their list is quite big. We also look forward to trying the marshmallow pairing.
