I think they're Biden voters this place could be so much better with minimal changes. Sad.

This is the only place I can bring the kids swimming and it really bites because this place could be sooo cool and neat, but it's run by nazis. So I pay the ever climbing rates to get in and enjoy it for about three hrs before actual officers started coming and telling us we had like 30 minutes until close. I think it was like 6pm. I'm like what the.... I spoke on the phone once to the guy who runs it about renting some facilities and I could tell this guy and I are oil and water. There's a reason for all the negative reviews.

I really don't understand the negative reviews. We camp here in a rv and generally love it. About the only bad experience we have had was one Memmorial weekend. That was due to over crowding and inconsiderate campers next to us. We camp here 3-4 times a year. Staff is always friendly,(more so than some campers). There are many things to do there. We ride the many miles of paved trails as well as trails through the woods. We have seen a variety of wildlife including Bald Eagles on several occasions, deer, squirrels, you name it. I fish from the bank and have caught many bass including a 3.5lb one just a week ago. We cook out and take bike rides to the zoo and just chill. Love it. Keep up the good work.

Things Have Changed for the Worse
Jun 2019 • Couples
I used to visit this place often in the 1980's and 90's and it was really enjoyable. I returned last week for the first time in many years and was shocked to see the deplorable condition everything is now in.

The beach itself is so eroded that it is rendered unusable and they no longer allow tent camping. What is up with that? From what I can tell, they use funds for maintenance to pay security officers to enforce the litany of rules and regulations posted everywhere you look.

Since we paid the regal fee of eight bucks to get in we decided to take a swim, piling our clothes and water bottle on a picnic table near the water. While out in the lake we noticed a security guy approach the table and eyeball our stuff especially the water bottle, lest it contain an alcoholic beverage. Wow, it was like being in a police state.

After that incident, we got dressed and left...........probably never to return.

This place would do well to take a hard look at how they conduct business with the public. They have all the beauty in the world to run a great recreation area without all the unnecessary control elements they have in place. It's a shame really.

I hate to think that anyone had an unpleasant experience. The beach area is still somewhat underwater due to flooding in the past few weeks. We have been working on the maintenance as the water recedes. The tent camping area has been closed due to the recent weather. I am sorry if you were misinformed. Our timeline to get the maintenance done has been delayed a little. We hope to have that are open in the next week or two. It is our goal to provide a beautiful place for people to have fun and relax and I apologize if you felt any different. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact me at 318 965-2289. My name is Chelle Carroll. Thank you for your time!

Great weekend!
Nov 2018 • Couples
After reading some negative reviews about this camp, we were a bit concerned we might not enjoy our weekend. However, our experience with the park employees exceeded expectations by far. We were allowed to change spots several times upon arrival, searching for the perfect place. The employees were not only helpful, by giving us a map with highlighted spots which would be empty during our stay, but cheerful too. When we were walking to the garbage bin with a few empty boxes, an employee happened to drive by and offered to take them there in his truck. The place is well kept up and clean, with great trails, a very small zoo with deer, peacocks, fox, and a few other animals, an interesting nature center, and a view of the lake from many campsites. The beach was closed for the season, as was the marina. Lots of other campers were here, but not overly crowded.

Deserted & I'm not surprised why!

Every time I've visited the Cyprus Black Bayou I've been the only person there, the rules are ridiculous, no wonder nobody visits the place, you feel like just about everything your doing is in some way breaking the rules! The staff are particularly unfriendly. It's such a shame, it could be so nice, seriously don't bother going!

Nice facilities but a terrible staff.
Sep 2018 • Family
Rules are necessary, but it would appear that the staff has run everybody off. I will never visit this park again. The staff needs training in public relations.

My wife and I love this park and the kids enjoy the trails. The have recently built new bathroom facilities and have completely redone the beach area. The security is great when the beaches are packed!

Good little park on the lake. Has swimming area but was to cold to swim. Small animal exhibit. Cheap to get in to park.

Small, but fun beach - nice camping facilities
Jun 2016 • Family
Our family spends quite a bit of time at Cypress Black Bayou Park & Recreation Area. There is a nice beach area that is spread into two somewhat separate areas. One side is very near the snack shack and the pavilion where the bathrooms are. The other side is farther away, but often there are fewer small children on that side. During the busy season, you'll have to arrive early to get your pick of the best picnic tables. There has always been plenty of parking and plenty of beach space when we've been there. We also have enjoyed family camping there. We've done both tent camping and primitive camping. The park rangers are good about patrolling all the areas and making sure that visitors abide by the rules. Bathrooms are adequate and are kept clean. It's not a giant park, but it's very pretty and well-maintained. There's a little zoo near the front gate - our grandchildren love visiting the zoo and especially loved the peacocks.
