The Shaw Center for the Arts has been a huge catalysts for the rejuvenation of downtown Baton Rouge. The center boast great restaurants including Tsunami, a rooftop sushi restaurant, taking advantage of breathtaking views of the Mississippi River. The center also boast the LSU Museum of Art and the Manship Theatre which bring in class acts of all forms to... More

I visited the Shaw Centre to see an exhibition of Haitian Art (open until March 2016). The staff were helpful on arrival and I rode the elevator to the gallery space. The staff on the desk were helpful and informative. The exhibition was displayed well within the space, there were seats and sofas in each room. I would recommend a... More

The Shaw Center is a wonderful place for various theatrical, musical and performance events. Located downtown and close to the Mississippi River. If you go to the roof you can go outside and view the traffic steaming upstream or gliding downstream. Worth a visit.

The Shaw Center is fun for children on a hot day because of the neat fountain at the entrance. The plaque says it was a gift to the citizens by a local family. How wonderful.

Seems like the Shaw Center is fun for kids even if they don't go inside. The reason is the kid friendly fountain at the entrance that is a perfect warm weather treat for frolic. A gift to the city from the Robert F and Ruth S Nichols Foundation, this interactive water feature refreshes even the oldest "kids on the block".

Nice ambiance..lovely location facing the Mississippi river. I attended a family wedding on the second floor, and it was simply beautiful and elegant. The gallery was magnificent and the staff courteous and helpful. Parking was limited, but parking lot not far away.

This was a beautifully organized art center that had a lovely gallery showing on one of the upper level floors. The selection of artwork had a nice variety of old world style portraits and more modern eclectic pieces that displayed the cultures of the bayou and Louisiana. There was a place facing the river where you could look out and... More

In front of the Shaw Center is the Robert F. and Ruth S. Nichols Fountain given to the citizens of Baton Rouge by their family in their memory. It is a child and family friendly water feature that creates unexpected and spontaneous excitement with playfully pulsating pleasure.

My wife and I drove down to Baton Rouge Saturday for the Hayes Carll concert at Manship Theatre at Shaw Center for the Arts. It is a beautiful contemporary building with first-class restaurants on the grounds, and fun, funky downtown street life right out the back door. But most importantly, it is the absolutely ideal setting for a concert. The... More
