Mummies, fabulous art, childrens activity rooms, planetarium, special events, and exhibits. You will find a world class museum in the old railroad depot, perched on the bank of the Mississippi River, with some of the best views in town. It is within walking distance of the Old State Capitol, the USS KIDD, downtown Baton Rouge, River Center, Shaw Center, hotels,... More

No gift shop, so make go to the old state house for postcards, etc. ample parking, but be prepared to walk.... More

The Louisiana Art Museum was an eclectic presentation of Art, History and Science. I really enjoyed the planetarium presentation with the additional exhibits about our earth... There's an exhibit about egyptology, a wonderful introduction for children to science, plus a special presentation about trees ... Definitely something for everyone!

I took my 5 and 7 year old here to see the magic tree house show at the planetarium. We thoroughly enjoyed it! On the plus side, the museum entrance fee gives you unlimited access to all of the shows that day (you can come and go). The museum was clean, and the workers nice and friendly. We had a... More

It's inexpensive and a pleasant hour long stroll through Egypt, Looney Tunes and space. Take time to enjoy it and it's a nice afternoon stroll. But don't come here thinking it's the Houston Museum of Natural Science. It's quaint so don't sprint. Another bonus is it offers a lot for the kids. And the shop has great art + jewelry... More

We went to see the Art of Warner Brothers Cartoons at LASM. I was very happy to see the exhibit of cartoon drawings that go back so far in time. I use to love the cartoons and my kids loved the Warner Brothers cartoons as well. I really like when LASM brings in exhibits such as this. It is very... More

I was mind blown at the 65 million year old 1500lbs Triceratops (dinosaur) skull! I was also mesmerized by the real mummy that is on display. Very interesting. Reasonable adult entry fee (just under $10). It was a 20 mins visit that has left a lifetime of memories!
