This is one museum in Baton Rouge you must do. All exhibits are very interesting and if you read each one plan on being there for hours. This is Louisiana history the good and the bad. They have a trumpet that Louis Armstrong played, an actual shrimp boat and a historic slave sale block. All of this and more are located on the first floor. The second floor is Louisiana cultural, Mardi Gras costume's, food and etc. There is a $7:00 per person charge but it is worth it.

I have lived in the Baton Rouge area for almost 40 years and I have never visited this museum until today. It was very informative in a very interesting way. We spent 3 years going through it and easily could have spent more. We had a group of 5 people covering 3 generations and we all enjoyed it and were able to go through it at our own pace.

Visiting at the weekend it was easy to park outside the museum. Couldn’t believe a capital city anywhere in the world could be this quiet. We spent a little too much time on the downstairs history exhibits before going upstairs to look at culture and entertainment. Overall thought the displays were very good. Just a pity they closed 30 minutes early for a wedding party without telling us. Would definitely have gone upstairs 1st

This was one of the most engaging museums we have ever visited. We learned about the acquisition of the Louisiana Purchase, the story of Louisiana’s role in the War of 1812, Civil War, World War II, and the Civil Rights Movement. We learned about Huey Long and Louie Armstrong. There’s also information on the natural resources of the state, the Mississippi River, and steamboats. And then you go upstairs to the colorful culture of the area - food, religion, music, fun. This is a must see museum! Plan to spend at least two hours, although we spent at least 3 and could have spent more time. The young lady at the entrance was warm and welcoming - real Southern hospitality! This was our first stop on our vacation in New Orleans and it gave us the much needed background information to maximize our vacation. Thank you!!

Very nice museum. Really explores the various areas within the state and their cultures. Louisiana is not a very large state but there is a lot of diversity here.

With a younger child we walked through it in about an hour. I would have definitely stayed longer by myself.

Broad coverage of things historic and cultural. Those with an avid interest in Louisiana could easily spend a day without exploring every item. Our "pick and choose" approach during a three-hour visit left us quite satisfied, with an introduction to several subjects we intend to explore further at home.

Good atmosphere, too, for a visit during this health crisis. Not crowded with visitors, sanitary appearance, well-ventilated. Wonderful experience!

Took my young grandsons to the Knock Knock Children's Museum to pass the time and give them something to do two years in a row. They loved it. If fact, the oldest still ask to go there every time I talk to him.
