- BradWinchester, Kentucky501 contributionsGreat "off the beaten path" attractionI stopped by here on a recent road trip to Shaker Village. Located about 8 minutes drive outside of Wilmore, it's definitely worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood. The park itself is fairly basic, which some playground equipment for the kids, and what appears to be a little dance pavillian. The star attraction here is definitely the engineering marvel that is "High Bridge". The park offers a few great places to view the bridge, including a purpose-built deck that extends out beyond the trees. Fair warning on that one though if you're afraid of heights, the floor is a metal grill that enables you to see quite a ways down below you.Visited March 2021Written March 16, 2021
- 5bikenutsBrookville, Pennsylvania82 contributionsSight to seeMy family was in the area for a college visit. We heard about the bridge from someone at the college. It was just a few miles down the road. It was well worth the drive down the back roads. BEAUTIFUL country. The blind hairpin turn just before the park was cool too! We were fortunate enough to have a large freight train cross the bridge as we were looking at it. Imagining back to those early days of the bridge.. it was, and is, an engineering feat. There is not much there, an old paddle wheel boat, an old restored caboose, and an overlook. It is something to see. Don't plan to be entertained. But let your imagination take you back as you look down on the river and at the bridge.Visited April 2021Traveled with familyWritten April 12, 2021
- stevesljPrestonsburg, Kentucky957 contributionsAn Amazing Railroad Site.If you are a train buff, this is a must see place. You can overlook the highest railroad bridge over a navigable river in the United States. We were there for an hour, and saw five trains cross this bridge. It is an engineering marvel that is jaw dropping!Visited August 2021Written August 15, 2021

There is a walk way so you can get out over the river and see the bridge very well.Visited September 2018Traveled as a coupleWritten September 16, 2018

The road to the park was scenic, but winding, so be careful getting there. We didn't stay long since it was late evening when we went, but worth the short trip from Wilmore.Visited July 2019Traveled as a coupleWritten August 2, 2019

My family and I lived in Wilmore, near to High Bridge Park, for several years while I was pursuing studies in the area. We used to go occasionally over to High Bridge Park, and we try and go back anytime we're back in the area. It really is quite beautiful, and a nice place for a picnic and photos.

Hadn't been to High Bridge in 20 years... since I graduated. They've built a park and overlook. Definitely worth a SUNSET trip to see!
