- OnAir5961669164217 contributionsBeautiful farm, great tour guides, and awesome experience. We got to meet each Stallion in the Stud barn and take photos then toured the grounds on the golf cart and got to hear stories and see the Mares and foals in the fields. All our questions were answered and we even got our photo with a Stallion and and a foal. Such a fun experience!! Thankyou so much!Visited August 2024Traveled soloWritten August 31, 2024
- Thomas C1 contributionIf one were ever interested in learning the nitty gritty of horse breeding plan a visit to a horse farm for a tour. Recently a visit to Winstar Farm’s Stallion and Breeding Facility provided the perfect learning experience. With Mary Paige as a guide you’ll meet some prominent stallions and learn the process and timing of horse breeding. Why you’ll even have a opportunity to have a photo taken whilst giving a petting to one of the boys!Visited March 2024Traveled soloWritten March 20, 2024
- Steve4570Bellefonte, Pennsylvania278 contributionsWe thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the WinStar Farm. The grounds are beautiful. Our guide was very informative and entertaining, she was an intern in the marketing division. We got to pet Audible (3rd place in KY Derby 2018). WinStar has has 2 Derby winners. We also met several stallions of the stable. We would highly recommend this tour if you are in the Lexington area.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 20, 2024
- Karol K1 contributionThe farm itself was lovely and the horses that were presented were real winners. The best part for me was taking the shuttle and comfortably roaming around other parts of the farm that covered other divisions beyond the Stallion Complex. Brooke , our tour guide was a young intern who had been with the farm only a few months, but was a wealth of information. She was well spoken and had a wonderful personality.Visited June 2024Traveled with friendsWritten June 21, 2024
- Steve H4 contributionsDuring our time in Kentucky we visited WinStar and again were completely satisfied with our tour. The staff were very knowledgeable about each stallion and the operations of the farm. The farm is a beautiful setting and the tours give you a look at so much more than you can see from the street.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 24, 2024

Facility was amazingly well manicured. My tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, telling every detail imaginable about the farm, it’s history and the people and horses that keep it thriving. Mary Paige painted the horse’s personalities and track experiences in such a way that I felt I was experiencing the horses and farm daily. What a treasure of storytelling!!!!

This was a really great horse farm tour. The property is beautiful and pristine, our tour guides were amazing, and the horses were stunning. We got to meet the majority of the stallions and hear stories about both their accomplishments on the track as well as their personalities along with the shuttle tour around the huge expanse of the farm. Hoping to go back again sometime and take some friends.

We knew nothing about the racehorse world and since we were in the area decided to do this tour. Brittany gave a really good tour - she is a good speaker, is very knowledgeable and has a huge number of stories. We learned a lot about the world of thoroughbred stallions and about each horse in the stallion barn. The farm is beautiful, as is the surrounding area. We would love to take a tour to see the rehab areas, watch horses training, etc.

Brittany and Paige gave an excellent tour. We thoroughly enjoyed their personal experiences with the stallions at WinStar.
We highly recommend this tour if you want to know about a working stud farm.

We took a 2 hour tour at this horse farm. The first hour was in the barns where the host told us about the stallions on the property and their history. The second hour was a tour on a golf cart around the property.
I would have preferred to go into the breeding shed and look a little more into the barns near the stallions. The cart tour could be improved a bit more by stopping and letting guests step off the cart to get a better view of the fouls and mares.
Would have been nice if it were a little more of an intimate feel to it.

We took 3 horse farm tours and this was the best!
Gorgeous farm, the golf cart ride through the property was amazing and our tour guide was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the farm and the thoroughbred racing industry in general. In each of the hose barns we met each horse and learned more about their personality and racing history.

We truly enjoyed our experience of being close and up personal to these famous stallions. Winstar is a gorgeous place as are the stallions. Our guide was enthusiastic about her job, very knowlegeable and very willing to answer questions. Fantistic to be able to stand close and touch one of the stallions! Very fun to meet the horses and some of their quirky personalities. Each animal has a true personality which was fun to see and some, in particular, were pointed out in case we may have missed them. We would have loved to have had more time to tour more of the facilities that are open to the public. Being farmers and having raised animals ourselves, the breeding and lineage of the animals is always fascinating! Was surprised about the amount of travel for the horses to other countries. Would have been a huge concern for disease contact. Also, seeing the roses blanket and other trophies was very interesting and enjoyable. Thank you!

We took the tour that included the stallion barn and the shuttle to see the mares and fillies. Our guide was excellent in her knowledge of the stallions and farm operation. I had no idea of the complexity of the breeding operation. If you take the tour in July or later, you’ll probably be able to visit the breeding shed.

WinStar is an absolutely stunning facility. Last time I visited, 9 years ago, I just saw the stallions, but this time we went on a shuttle to see the mares and babies. I can’t say enough good things about the tour guide Mary Paige. She is friendly, gregarious, very knowledgeable about the horses, and just an all round great guide! She made sure everyone felt comfortable and had plenty of opportunities to have photos and pet horses where allowed. This trip I took six total tours, and WinStar was hands-down the best.

Totally wonderful tour! Fascinating, great mix of locations to see. Our guide was delightful, so knowledgeable, well spoken. Even the most random questions were answered in detail. She showed a commendable passion and care for the horses and their histories. Our group was small which made it comfortable and personable. We highly recommend the Winstar Farm tour!!!

I read that there are no public bathrooms on the tour. Is this accurate? Just wondering because the tour lasts two to three hours.
Written June 7, 2022
There are nice public restrooms where you start, and then end the tour. You will be on a shuttle exploring the grounds for about an hour and a half, and there are no stops during that time.
