My daughter and my son in law were married last weekend at Wildside. The place is beautiful. They were engaged there and this seemed to be the only option that was affordable for them. We had rehearsal the evening before and we’re told to be out by 7 on the dot because they had no staff to help. 6:58 they made sure to come outside and make sure we were leaving right then. Next day they were to be at venue to open at 11. Guess what, no one was there to open till almost noon. When arriving the groom and groomsmen found dog feces in the floor, which didn’t get cleaned up till hours later. They signed a contract not realizing that the entire bar and front porch would be open to public all during the wedding. There were only two people working the entire day. Patrons there for wine were taken care of before anyone. Our guests were waiting in long lines to get drinks. This didn’t seem to matter. We had several complaints from wedding guests that they weren’t able to hear speeches because the bar area was too loud. We were supposed to be out of venue by 11. Many tables had to be brought back outside, which were taken back out. And some tables not put exactly back like they needed to be. We had everything cleared from the room and outside by 845 while they came in sweeping. The floors were gross when we got there but they had the audacity to charge my children $500 for damages/and cleaning. There were no damages at all!!! When paying over $4000 to have a big event at your establishment, there needs to be much better professionalism, and certainly more staff that’s willing to help. If you are looking for a wedding venue or place for big event, this is NOT the place. They have taken advantage of a young couple, and this is unacceptable! I have never been to a wedding venue that has no staff running the place.

We enjoyed our first visit there. People seemed friendly and the staff took great care of us. We got wine flights at our table which was nice! We ended up with a couple bottles of wine to take with us for the evening. I would totally return!

Based on the good reviews it has received, we actually drove about twenty minutes out of our way to try Wildside Winery. Although small, it is cute on the inside with decorations and hanging lights. We arrived around 12:30 on a Saturday, and no one was there except for a table with six girls and one lady checking out at the register. My husband and I sat at the bar, and we were given a sheet of paper with the wines listed. The young guy, who I might add looked like he had been up for three days and had grime all under his nails, told us just to circle the six wines we wanted and he would be back. He gave no explanation about the different wines or what to expect. So we sat there for ten minutes while he hung out at the table of girls. There was another employee, a girl from Lexington, and she was a lot more helpful. She saw that no one was helping us, so she came over and placed two wine glasses in front of us. She said they were running low on glasses, so we should just rinse our one wine glass out between samples. She poured the first wine we had chosen, but she stood there with the next sample to pour and we felt so rushed. My husband changed his mind on one of the samples and changed it to a different wine to try. She said that was fine, but she never gave him his sixth taste! Every time they opened a bottle of wine, the two employees were helping themselves to it as well. In the middle of our sampling, the young guy raced down the hall laughing because the sink was about to overflow. The entire vibe was strange, and we just didn't feel welcomed. We arrived, waited to be helped, had our wine tastings, paid, and were out all in 25 minutes. I am hoping this was a random occurrence. I have read that the owners are lovely people and most reviews have been favorable. I am just giving an honest review of our experience.

I am so sorry that you were disappointed in your visit to Wildside Winery. We take pride in our friendly, casual atmosphere. It sounds like you arrived shortly after we opened for the day. The young man was a new employee at the time, and we have been getting great reports on his customer service. The sink overflowing sounds like a one time occurrence in our kitchen. The missed taste of wine is unusual since it is our policy to add even an extra one if requested. Maybe she lost count and you didn't ask? As far as tasting the wine it is our policy to not drink on the job with the exception that if a bottle is getting low, the employees need to taste it to make sure it is not getting oxidized from being open too long. Since you reported that this was when they were opening new bottles, it sounds like they were ensuring your wine was fresh. Never-the-less, it is their job to make you feel comfortable and so I apologize and will reiterate to our employees the importance of it. Thanks for the info on your experience and we will do our best in the future.

We had a great wine tasting here and enjoyed some cheese and crackers along with about 8 types of wine. Of course we bought a bottle of our favorite. This winery has a fruit wine made from the paw paw which we did not get to taste. But maybe next time? We hope to go back someday.

As we approached the Lexington area ahead of schedule we Googled things to do to kill some time. What a wonderful surprise we found at Wildside. The staff was very helpful, the price of a wine flight very reasonable, outside seating was delightful after 4 hours in the car. Best surprise of all was the wine. After an hour of enjoyment we purchased 3 bottles and got to our destination. Off the beaten path, but the scenery to get there and the experience is worth it!

A pleasant and knowledgeable young man conducted our wine tasting today at the Wildside Winery. They have traditional reds and whites as well as other fruit wines. The tastings and wines are very reasonably priced. You can choose 1 oz pours of 6 wines for $3 or 2 oz pours of 6 wines for $6. Most bottles of wine were about $13. Our favorites were the chardonnay and the frontenac gris. My sister likes sweeter wines and bought the blackberry and cherry wine. A souvenir glass is $4. They also have a party room that you can rent. A young couple was there who had picked their own grapes. All and all a fun time.

Based on reviews had to give it a try, certainly did not disappoint. This if by far one of the best wine experiences I've had. Hubby and I decided to sample the different wine choices and enjoyed experience with cheese, crackers and nuts. What an experience. Needless to say we walked away happy with a few bottles to re-create the tasting at home. A must stop in the region.
