Like stepping back in time

This was an interesting stop on our drive through the area. The gentleman who runs the shop was friendly and informative. We especially enjoyed walking through the covered bridge and seeing inside the structures that are in good condition considering how old they are.

Wonderful anniversary weekend

If you love history as my wife and I do, the Lincoln Homestead State Park is a must visit! They even have a bed that was made for his mother Nancy! We will definitely be bringing others in the future!

A look at Lincoln's heritage
Jun 2020
It was a neat little area with information about the Lincoln family. There is a few original buildings with some replica cabins in two locations. I went to late in the day - the museum and buildings close at 5 - but did walk around and take pictures while reading the signs.

Nice, peaceful place to visit!

If you’re in the area this is a must visit! If you want a good history lesson this is a good one. If you like golf, there is a nice course located around it. Watch out as one of the holes appears to go across the covered bridge. It has limited facilities, although it does have decent bathrooms. My kids enjoyed playing on the playground equipment. Not crowded at all on a Sunday.

Nice stop. Rangers were very informative. Intresting history of how the family lost the land. Be sure to also stop at the other Lincoln park with the "original cabin". Both on the same road

Great for pictures

It was mid-week and the schools are in session so we didn't expect the spot to be open (many aren't open on Monday and Tuesday during this time of the year). It was fantastic, we were the only ones there and really had no interest in entering the cabins.

Great Stop if you love history and are in the area!

If you love history, chances are you love historical places. This is an interesting stop if you're on your way through the area, but I probably wouldn't travel a great distance JUST to see it. There isn't a lot to see, but I still really enjoyed it.

Lincoln Day
Oct 2018 • Couples
We dedicated a day of our KY trip to Abraham Lincoln. The Lincoln Homestead was one of our stops. We enjoyed this stop and learning about the Lincoln family.

Lovely Historic Site
Jul 2018 • Couples
If you’re interested in the Lincoln history, then you should include a visit here. Or if you just want to spend a little time exploring a lovely state park, don’t miss this gem. Start in the visitors center. I spoke to a very knowledgeable man working there and he was willing and eager to talk about the site. I can’t remember his name but he shared the title of a book he was reading, “There I Grew Up”. There is a replica of the cabin of President Lincoln’s grandmother, Bersheba. Don’t miss it because they have some pieces made by her son, Thomas Lincoln. There is also an original cabin that was where Thomas Lincoln courted and proposed to Nancy Hanks. It was moved to this site from its original location not far from here. There is another building that was owned and believed built by Mordecai Lincoln, Abraham’s uncle. Side note: great restaurant in town called Mordecai’s. I highly recommend a visit to this area and Lincoln Homestead State Park.

Cabins all around to help you feel the history but then you find out that Lincoln was not born there but his parents were married in Springfield and lived near there. Golf course very close by.
