Often these back-in-time reconstructed villages can be either too elementary or a little hoaky. But this one is a winner. There is something about your guides being directly descended from the original settlers that gives a special meaning to the place. When a real blacksmith makes nails for you, and a real lobster fisherman weaves nets in front of your... More

This is one of the finest historic attractions I have attended. Lots of actual recreation of ways of life I have enjoyed. The people who work here and do the demonstrations are cordial genuine and real. The people are the history. Wonderful job. A must see.

We had fun, they gave us umbrellas to use because it was raining, very helpful, also got fresh baked cookie when visiting one of the houses, the people working there were very knowledgeable, took about an hour to tour the whole area and do the trails.

We visited this Acadian Historic site 3 weeks ago as a family outing. We had 7 people all together. The cashier at the front desk offered the group rate/family rate for us instead of counting it as 2 families because one family only had one adult and 1 teenager. It saved us about $15.00. It was very informative and the... More

There are plenty of worthy reviews of this museum, and rightly so for such a fine place to visit. But I want to focus a moment on the small restaurant there. It's a wonderful place for lunch, with an airy dining room overlooking the museum grounds and ocean, and a cheerful staff waiting to serve up a good selection of... More

Was at a family reunion in Pubnico and took some time to visit this small but very beautiful historic and informative setting. This gave me an insight not only to the Acadian lifestyle but also to their values and traditions. The staff told interesting anecdotes on the way of life of the settlers in the early days of L Acadie.... More

We stumbled upon this in our way from Lunenburg to Brier Island. Great find! Reasonably priced to visit and very authentic and interactive. You could walk through the village and into the different building and actually touch some of the artifacts. The staff working as interpreters were dressed in character and genuinely seemed interested in what they were telling you.... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this charming living museum and what made it so special were the lovely welcoming staff and the knowledge and friendliness of the interpreters of Acadien life from a bygone age. We discovered that many of them had personal connections to the historic houses and buildings moved to, and preserved on, this lovely rural site.... More

We found this place by following road signs while on a road trip in Nova Scotia. It was wonderful. We always enjoy outdoor ethnographic museums and this place does it well!
