I took 3 teens and myself to go kayaking in an abandoned, flooded mine. Really didn't know what to expect. We arrived at the location early, were quickly checked in and then we waited for our time to go on our tour. When it was time, the guides got us quickly outfitted with our vests and helmets. There are some inexpensive rental options when you check in. One is a waterproof pouch for your cell phone ($5) and neoprene socks ($2 per pair). The socks may not be a bad idea. It does get cold in the cave and if you are barefoot, it may not be that comfortable. They have a floating dock where you get into your kayak. If you have stiff joints like myself, they were very patient and helpful with getting everyone loaded, no matter the issue. You will take off your shoes as you cannot wear them in the kayak. I'd suggest the neoprene socks (or bring your own) and wear shoes which are easy to take off and on. Nothing worse than having wet feet and struggling into shoes while in a fairly dark environment. All of us were a little bit wet from either boarding/exiting the kayak or from water randomly dripping from the roof of the mine. (Not a lot but it did happen from time to time.) A sweatshirt makes it more comfortable in the chilly mine. All of us had something that was cold at the end but it wasn't unbearable. I gave my gloves to one of my kids and I really wanted them at the end of the trip because my hands were pretty wet for most of the trip.
You will paddle the whole trip but it isn't hard or fast paddling. The guides are patient and stay with you. I didn't hear most of what the main tour guide was saying about the mine as I spent most of my time talking to a guide at the back about Texas. I enjoyed it and so did the kids. Don't worry if you haven't kayaked before. This is a good place to start as the water is calm. This was my second time kayaking and it was much, much easier than kayaking up in Alaska. The kids were happy with the experience and they had a great time!

We rented the crystal kayaks for the glow tour. Jacob was our guide and was knowledgeable and funny. He made the group feel comfortable while making us all laugh and pitching good local eateries for lunch. Check in was quick and the staff was friendly. Take a change of pants. I was not properly prepared and wish I had thought of it. It's cold but we were comfortable in jeans, an undershirt and hoodies. Jacob took photos and emailed to everyone after our tour. Nice perk to just enjoy the trip and not worry about photos. Great experience I'd love to do again.

The Clear Kayaking had been on my bucket list for over 3 years. My dad and I finally decided to visit Kentucky so I could do this activity and he could see Mammoth Cave. I was absolutely blown away by the experience! The pictures will never do justice to just how unique and peaceful this experience was. The staff was incredible and the guides were so friendly, funny and engaging. The head tour guide had a microphone so I was able to hear everything clearly from the back. Here's a couple things about the trip:
It's not 1.5 hours of just kayaking, but I felt it was the perfect amount of time. The rest of the time is spent walking into the mine (while they give you parts of the story), gearing up, gearing down, and loading the boats.
I thought it was colder here than any other caves/caverns we've been in. Your feet will get a little wet, so either go barefoot (I did) or wear water shoes. My dad wore socks and grumbled about wet feet even after I told him to take them off. They offer rental socks if you want.
This is not a strenuous activity. Most of the time you're just floating slowly after one stroke, which adds to the enjoyment in my opinion. I'm not an experienced kayaker, so I was nervous that I'd struggle to keep up. There's no way anyone slows down the group. It's a really nice pace for the tour.
I recommend the photo package, which is $5 at booking or $10 there. The photos only included one outside the cave entrance and each person after getting in the kayaks. I felt it was worth it because they came out well and I wasn't sure if I'd get a good one myself. I also rented a water proof phone case ($5 each) but could have brought my own. I loved the pictures I took too, but the best one of me in the kayak was in the photo package. The package also included a few stock photos too.
Overall, this was like nothing I've seen before. We came to Kentucky specifically for this, and was not disappointed. Make sure to book other things to do, as it is only about 90 minutes total. However, this was my favorite adventure here and well worth it!

Hey Win, We appreciate all the reviews that our guests give us. However, every once in a while, we get a really special review that makes everything we do worthwhile. Thank you for taking the time to really tell your story and tell it well. We put a lot of hard work and training into what we do and you clearly appreciated every bit of it. Your vision will help a lot of other people understand what we offer. This review is a true gift. Thanks a million!!!

This was such an amazing experience! The guides for my group were great. They informed and entertained the group with historical anecdotes and jokes. They lead you through the mine in a meandering way that leaves you disoriented but amazed they know their way around. The mine has some Easter eggs so keep your eyes open and you may spot some. The lighted Krystal clear kayaks make it a unique experience. The guides use a portable speaker but you have to stay near the guide to best hear the information and jokes. If you are prone to chills, dress in layers and wear good insulated socks and gloves. I highly recommend this experience!

This was a fun experience, enjoyed having a lighted Kayak touring the mine and seeing the rainbow trout. At times it was hard to hear our your guide, especially if you were in the back of the group. We paid for the photos, but there should have been more photos taken of each group inside the mine. Evan and Kyle were very knowledgeable about the mine and it's history. They did an excellent job at making sure you were dressed appropriately and had the proper equipment to ensure a safe experience. This was definitely a unique opportunity.

Honestly, we wanted to love this more than what we did. We felt this was overpriced for what it really offered. Our tour guide was not the best as he complained he was tired the entire time through and appeared to be just going through the motions. When he pointed out things in the cave, half the group was still behind and did not hear what was being said. Most tour guides will wait for group to catch up before explaining certain items/facts. Again, way over priced for what it is.

We visited on a chilly, rainy day in March and had a blast! The "office" is small, but clean and warm and the staff are super friendly while you're waiting for your time slot.
The tour guides are knowledgable, funny, helpful, and we loved their overall pace. The clear kayaks are beautiful and were in perfect condition-no cracks or scratches. They use LED lights to illuminate the bottom of the kayaks and at key points inside the mine...very cool!
The water is beautiful and clear, though super cold, so definitely recommend the gloves. Overall we thought this crew provided a great experience and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Harley our guide was awesome! She did a great job of keeping us entertained while pointing out all the interesting facts and history about the mine. Dillon the photographer took some great shots that were sent to my email immediately after the tour for only $5! The kayaking is smooth and gentle through the mine in clear water. Highly recommend this relatively unknown gem!

Loved this tour! My boyfriend and I went in July for his birthday. 🥳 The crystal kayak tour was amazing!! Loved touring of all the caves, seeing the rainbow trout glow below, and getting to rock a pink LED kayak all over the underground. 💕 Highlight: Our guide Jacob had the group sing happy birthday to Patrick 220ft below surface and hear all the cool echos. It was such a cook experience! Thanks for a great tour, Jacob and Walker!

This was a very cool experience but it isn't something that I would pay that much to do again. That's why I rated it a 4. The crystal kayaks with led lights were super cool. We had a group of 8, so having the private tour was great. Our guide Jacob was very knowledgeable and engaging. It would have been nice to have a longer experience, as well as be able to explore the cave more. I figured we would explore some of the other tunnels. It was disappointing that we didn't get to do that. By the time you get into the kayaks and actually start the tour, 30 minutes out of your 1.5 hour tour has already passed. Overall it was a fun experience, but for the price it really should be longer and have more to it.

What If I bring my own kayak? Do you have different pricing options? Or this location is just reserved for private tours?

There are public access points if you have your own boat but I didn’t see any prices just for providing transportation.
