It's not often positive reviews detail a highway rest area. Most are modest, provide basic service, and little else. This, however, is something entirely different. It harkens back to the "Old South" in style and architecture. The bold columns, and Portico look like thery're just waiting for a Mint Julep toting guest to kick back and relax. It's defintely a... On our road trip we stopped there just to refresh. But spent 20 minutes just walking around enjoying beautiful scenery of building. One of the cleanest and well maintained welcoming visitor centers I've been to.

Whether you need to stop or not, do it here. There are the typical travel welcome center amenities (restrooms, maps, etc.) with the added pleasure of the mansion and grounds to enjoy. Picnic tables are in pleasant locations. Kentucky welcomes travelers in style!

The most beautiful rest stop we have been to so far on our road trip around America. Clean amenities, even fresh flowers in the bathrooms. The lady working there gave our children some pins and even took a family photo for us. Thanks! :)

Best rest stop ever. On the main highway and easy to get to. In a huge mansion built in 1865. National historical site. Desk volunteer was such a history buff. They give tours from 2-4P during the week, so you can view all the rooms. But of course, we had no time (this was supposed to be just a bathroom... More

Took the tour and it was a beautiful place. Historical mansion not to be missed! They do have an elevator for those who can't climb the stairs to see the rooms upstairs. Make sure you take the time to stop here, it only took about 20 minutes to tour.
