We rode our bikes down the Little Miami river trail, starting in Camp Dennison, connected to the Ohio River trail and rolled across the Purple People bridge to Kentucky. It was a fun destination and we enjoyed the city sights from the pedestrian only bridge. The bridge felt safe and wasn’t very busy on a Thursday afternoon.

Great views of the Cincinnati and Newport Kentucky skylines. The bridge is just for pedestrians and cyclists, which is nice. It has faded and us no longer purple, but the private owners are raising money to paint it. Worth a walk!

Great place to go for a walk, It great that they have this bridge here, it let me spend a little time in both cities and it was interesting seeing both cites and the Ohio River from this perspective. Liked the section they had for people to put their love locks. My favourite part though was the Ohio/Kentucky state line, where North meets South hence the colour purple. Highly recommend this if you enjoy walking, running or biking.

We love walking city bridges and this one was especially fun. The walking connector from Newport Kentucky to Cincinnati, included informational plaques and points of interest. They offer private events on the bridge that I think would be super fun!

We enjoyed walking across the river on this bridge. 27 year old daughter even had fun putting one foot in Ohio and the other in Kentucky on the border line written on the bridge. Good place to take pictures.

A beautiful view of two cities, the river, and other attractions. My husband and I walked from the Ohio side to the Kentucky side. The bridge was almost empty save for a few passing people. We enjoyed sitting on the bench on the bridge and looking at the view. I also loved getting a photo on the state line! We also enjoyed the river walk on the Cincinnati side. A fun little place to get some exercise and take in the city.

If you are in Newport and go to the levee then definitely take a walk across The Purple People Bridge! It takes you from Newport, Kentucky, to Cincinnati, Ohio, and back. Lots to do on both sides and a quick walk across. You can also see the locks on the bridge. It is worth it.

You can walk over this bridge and enjoy the view. you can also walk along the River and they have bikes you can rents and ride along it. I noticed a lot of geese outside too. If you walk to the aquarium from the Levee you will have to climb stairs. Good to know if you have someone handicap or has a hard time walking up steps.

A pedestrian bridge that needs a new coat of purple paint. But besides that was cool and fun to walk across. Great views. Be warned it's a half mile across.

Having recently moved to Newport, my husband and I made a commitment to walk from Kentucky to Ohio every day. Once on the Ohio side of the river, there are two beautiful parks right at the end of the Purple People Bridge. If you walk to the right, you can walk through Sawyer point with tennis courts, playgrounds, a skating rink, amphitheater, and more. Continuing further, there is the International Friendship Park~not to be missed. Walking to the left, you can walk to the Red stadium and the Paul Brown Stadium along a beautiful waterfront park along the serpentine wall. The Newport side has a great selection of dining and activities on the Levee which include shopping, bowling, a comedy club, a cabaret theater, and a 20 venue movie theater. Take a walk across the Purple People bridge...just to say you did it!~Walk from Kentucky to Ohio and back...do it for the story :)

On the street parking is available as well as lots. Parking prices are reasonable and meter parking may be free on Saturday and/or Sunday.
My bf and I like to Walk and explore. I don't care if I stay in cincy or Kentucky but what hotels would you recommend for not only walking this bridge but just walking and exploring in general. I am not familiar with the area at all and we will only be in town for 1 day.

We stayed at the Residence Inn "The Phelps" by Marriott (see my review) on 4th St, downtown Cincinnati. It's 2 blocks from the bridge, which allows easy access to Newport on the Levee across the river (KY side). You are also fairly close to everything downtown Cincinnati; 5 blocks from Fountain Square. I used Trip Advisor to find the hotel, and we were very pleased. Enjoy your trip!

Newport Kentucky side! A new Hampton is now open. Book early.
Bands, food, fun all day. Walk everywhere, do not drive in area after 5pm. Traffic everywhere and bridges close.

There are some lots right next to the bridge. If you are staying in downtown Cincinnati and are a walker it would be about 7-12 blocks from any city hotels
Where is the bridge located/what is it by? I will be in Cincinnati in a few weeks and am not familiar with the area. I would like to walk it from Ohio side to Kentucky. Is it near Smale Riverfront or any of the parks? Answers greatly appreciated

The purple people bridge runs from Cincinnati to Newport, just East of US Bank Arena and the Reds and Bengals stadium. If you are in for a big walk, you can park at Yeatman's Cove ( Eggleston and River Rd), walk through Yeatman's Cove Riverfront park, go across the Purple People Bridge ( you can see Newport on the Levy/Newport Aquarium right next to it) and then go back and walk along Pete Rose Way to Smale Park. Don't miss the carousel and the swings are great on a pretty day. Have Fun.

While not in a wheelchair my mother has trouble with steps. Would she be able to take this tour?

Yes, you can cross this bridge using a W/C. You go across this bridge by yourself. You can walk it from the Cinn. side or the Ky side. It's just for people walking, strollers, bikes, W/C's, Crutches, etc. No Cars on this bridge!! Very beautiful. It is also light up at night. Great views of both cities. Benches and flowers all along it.
