Interesting bell set near the courthouse in Newport and off the tourist path. It is obviously a large bell that took some time t cast and cool down. We were told that upon ringing the bell, windows blew out at a building across the street. They do not ring it often, and it is good to take a look.

The World Peace Bell is the world's largest free swinging bell. It weighs 66,000 lbs., is 12 feet in diameter and 12 feet high. Its clapper alone weighs an amazing 6,878 pounds. Not a lot going on these days with ringing this bell and it had to be enclosed to cut down on noise but the history behind it is... More

This was the largest bell in the world until 2006 and it's so cool! Also has a lot of meaning behind it. Cool place to stop while by the Ohio River!

Worth stopping and taking a picture. It will take some time to find a parking space in the area. My husband stayed in the car while I took a picture.

this is the cite of many patriotic events/stops for different groups. It is just west of the Newport Business District and a site to visit along with the Newport Aquarium, if you are visiting with family

Big deal??!! What a disappointment, plus a waste of time. The meaning of it is nice but that's about it. You just see a random big bell, on a sidewalk in the middle of Newport. It makes no sense. There's next to no information about it. I've been there twice & the only people that have been there are the... More

After your walk across the people purple bridge, take a few more blocks stroll to see this huge ringing bell.

Wow! I've never been that close to a very large, ringing bell. It was memorable. I'm glad I saw it. Our group requested it for a memorial activity, and it was quite moving. I only wish the attraction had a patch I could buy to add to my collection.

This is a huge bell. Other than that their is nothing special about it. The bell is on the corner of 4th st and RT 27.
