Quick stop

I only saw this from the cab riding back into the city! It looked neat and I would like to stop there and check it out better next time!

There's not a lot to do here, but it is worth a 10-15 minute stop if you are in the neighborhood to see and read about the bell.

World Peace Bell is the largest swinging bell in the world. The bell swings and rings every day at 11:55 AM. Two miniature World Trade Center towers and a memorial to firefighters lost that day.

I enjoyed seeing this huge bell. It is a wonderful symbol representing peace. The bell is located in Newport, Kentucky within reasonable walking distance of other attractions like the Newport Aquarium and Newport on the Levee. I think the best time to arrive is when the visitor center is open and one can actually go across a walkway to the... More

Nice arrangement of memorial, but not much other info. If there weren't other things to see in the area I would be disappointed.

This bell was HUGE! Only problem was that the welcome center wasn't open (on a Saturday)???? The bell is outside, so you could see it, even though you couldn't get to the walk through. In the same square was a firefighters monument and a twin towers monument. Beautiful symbol of peace. Free-kids would love it, AND it's just up the... More

The bell rings two different ways -- one by swinging to set the hanging clapper going (rare and mostly for events like weddings or memorials), and two by being struck on the side (happens every day five minutes before noon). It rings before noon so as not to interfere with the courthouse bells nearby. The sound of the bell being... More
