Literally, Bells and Whistles throughout the trip! Well worth the drive from Louisville for a quiet train ride with grandson and Great Grandparents. No frills, but clean train cars through farmland, woods, and homes. Reasonably priced, including the Gift Shop. Friendly staff. We did not tour the Museum.

Really enjoyed the train ride & the history given at the beginning. Seating is super comfortable. Love that the money donations go to the Crusade for Children. Would like to see a more active robbery on the train with more actors to make it more realistic.

Found this on the internet, was looking for a authentic old time railroad experience for my husband who has always wanted to do this type of thing! We added this as the starter activity to our family vacation and it was the perfect way to begin, it is easy to find, even though it is off the beaten path. thank goodness for GP's now a days! Museum is not large by any means, but just right for a afternoon activity. It is located in the peaceful town of New Haven, KY. You have an outdoor walking museum with engines and old train cars, along with and indoor museum, small but very nice, it is free to walk through, it is located in a old depot, which houses a gift shop and ticket area to go on the train ride throughout the country side. Our family participated in the Murder Mystery package. the meal started out in the near by B& B that also houses a local bar, (Beautiful old bar, original wood work, it is like taking a short trip back in time) They also let us go up stairs and look at the open B & B room, all decorated in antique bedroom sets and furniture. NO AC, so they tell you from the get go you are TRULY experiencing how it would of been to stay here years ago,, before boarding the train to go somewhere! The down stairs areas was Air conditioned and set up for meals and programs! we stared out being served a wonderful french onion soup, along with a beautiful salad W/ house dressing that was out of this world. The performers began to set the stage for the Murder & mystery behind it while we were eating our meal. Some of the actors even served us while we were eating our meal. You had a choice of Chicken or Salmon for the main course, wonderful as well with rice or mash potatoes.Dessert was of course a very decadent Carmel filled brownie with more caramel and real homemade whip cream and nuts and cherries to top it off! The meal started at 5:30 p.m. and then around 7 p.m. they asked you to boarded the train for the mystery to be unfolded and solved. this took around 2 hours. we stopped in Boston, Ky. for 15 minutes for us to get off the train, talk about WHO did it, etc. we then traveled back to New Haven and the suspect was slowly reviled to us. we also were given and opportunity to write down "MEANS, MOTIVE, OPPORTUNITY and who we think actually did it. Prizes where given to those that got the correct person in the end. They were able to go and pick certain things out of the gift shop.
After all was relieved we were given the opportunity to take pictures with the cast and crew of the production. Was a very fun time, they also offer a roaring 50's and train robbery event along with other e=seasonal activities! Was a great chose for our family and totally enjoyed by my husband who we actually did it for! Train is not remodeled and is in a little ruff shape but that just adds to the original~ness of it. It was $65.00 per -person to do this, which was very reasonable for all that it included! They even had a person come around and punch your ticket liek they would of done in the "GOOD OLD DAYS" Good choice for the start of our vacation!

Small railway museum with an emphasis on Kentucky’s (and especially the old Louisville & Nashville) rail history. We most enjoyed the large and excellent HO operating model railroad. But there are other exhibits including rolling stock and excursion train trips available.

This place is awesome! The tour was just myself, hubby and our 10 year old and we lucked out and got the director of the museum. To say he was a wealth of information would be a huge understatement. Multiple types and ages of engines and cars were available for viewing. Relaxed pace and get patient with questions and photo ops. It was so cool to get personal stories along with historical facts that really made it come to life. I planned the excursion for hubby and our son. But I loved it myself!

We took our 4 year-old grandson on the Santa Express. He had such a good time. He got to meet Mr & Mrs. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus was his favorite. He loved standing up so he could see everything and that there were so many kids on board. When we deboarded, it was snowing. He played in it until it stopped. He said it was fun but tasted like soap. We then had hot cocoa and cookies and that was a big treat. We saw several train displays and wrote Santa a letter. Would highly recommend.

On our way there we got stuck in a traffic jam and I panicked. I called to say we were going to be late and ask for side road directions and Maureen was great. She even wanted me to make sure I told her when we got there.

The staff was great. Can't say enough good things!

We are delighted you enjoyed your visit on the Santa Express. The Christmas trains are our most popular special event. The event is truly all about the kids and it sounds like your grandson really enjoyed himself. We hope to see you again on a future ride. Thank you.

I would highly recommend this train museum. Plan your trip to include an hour ride on the train. Very reasonable price. We were traveling in an RV and found them thru Harvest Host so got a bonus of staying the night. Quaint small town.

Small museum but the train ride is well worth the trip. I also highly recommend the behind the scene tour. Bob was our guide and we were able to see memorabilia that was being restored. On that tour we got to see a really old mule drawn street car. Bob was excellent. The staff here are very professional and work to see that you have a good experience.

The train museum was sort of interesting but the train ride itself was dreadful. It was simply a down and back trip in uncomfortable seats, no stops, no historical information about the area we were traveling, and all we could see were trees passing by our windows....I can see that on the highway. Don't waste your money.

I am sorry that your trip was disappointing. We always have someone on board giving a history or we have a narrative that is played, I apologize if that was not done, what day did you ride? The train is a bit different now with no stops because of Covid.

We have been to Ky Railway in New Haven, Ky., most recently for Santa at the North Pole. We have been to see Thomas the Train and other activities at the railway. We have always had excellent service and friendly employees, and enjoyed it all. I would definitely recommend the railway to family and friends.
