The dollhouse was great. I will have to say that is the only thing that I liked. My husband enjoyed the ship display. It is a very small museum. They do have a gift shop. The cost to visit is over priced for what you see. Students are $2 and everyone else is $10. It took us less than an hour. I guess they are supported by the ticket sales. I think that they would have more visitors if they dropped the price to $5. A large family couldn't visit because the cost would be extremely expensive,

Glad I took TripAdvisor advice and spent the morning exploring this gem! Very well done with lots of wonderful items! Well worth your time and money. The miniatures alone are amazing!

The Gateway Museum has an extensive collection of miniature models of a wide variety, which I was prepared to breeze past on my way to find something more interesting. I was mistaken. These reproductions at 1/12th scale are historically accurate and posses breathtaking detail. I cannot fathom what it took to make these models, which include garden atriums, jewelry stores, and a reproduction of the royal home of the late Princess Diana. The museum has a wing devoted to Mayesville and Kentucky’s early history, which was fascinating. Enjoy the artwork by local master Steve White.

The KY Gateway Museum folks did a great job of mixing Kentucky and Maysville history. We enjoyed all of their exhibits. I wasn't too sure how much I might like the miniture collection, but was pleasantly surprised. It was a lot more than the Victorian dollhouse collection that I expected. It's a huge collection with remarkable detail and craftsmanship. You'll recognize local Maysville landmarks and see everything from a Maine "lobsta" building, to a Titanic stateroom and foreign scenes. Courteous staff and small gift shop.

I'll be honest and say that the only part of the museum that I visited was the KSB Miniatures Collection, but I spent over two hours doing that. I made a round-trip drive of 8 hours from Knoxville to get to see this collection and I was not disappointed. It is truly incredible. The Spenser House, ancestral home of Lady Diana, would have been quite wonderful in any museum. Be sure to study the Savage and Son Jewelers with its incredibly tiny watches. There is a shop with some rather expensive items, but you should be able to find a few items that are much more in your range. I bought both books about the collection, because not all of the pieces are on display at any one time evidently. The staff is friendly and can point you toward local eateries as well.
