About
Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company opened in Louisville, Kentucky in 2015, but the distillery's roots extend back to 1889, when their ancestor, Henry Kraver, began distilling bourbon. Corky and Carson Taylor, fourth and fifth generation descendants of Kraver, are the historic-turned-urban Bourbon makers dedicated to providing a distinctively-authentic bourbon experience with distillery tours and tastings. Visit to experience, first-hand, the Peerless Caliber that sets Peerless spirits apart.

My wife and I recently took a tour at Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company in Louisville, KY. Most of the big name distillery tours were sold out and we decided to give Peerless a shot. I am so glad we did. This tour blew the other tour (big name distillery) out of the water.
Peerless is a smaller family distillery though new to modern era it has a rich and interesting history, which is demonstrated with its pre-prohibition license. The tour itself was really informative and highly enjoyable. I am recommending this as a stop for a guys “bourbon trail” trip later this year.
As for the whiskey, it is hands down one of the best ones I have had. This includes both bourbon and rye. I ended up purchasing three bottles of Peerless to help hold me over until the next trip.

The bourbon tastings were a lot of fun and Peerless were generous with their portions. However I was surprised that Peerless didn’t require people to wear masks inside their shop, which was pretty crowded. Tastings were well spaced, however.

This tour was one of the BEST distillery tours we’ve done to this day. It was informative, interactive, historical and fun all in one! The overall ambiance of the distillery was very tasteful - we liked the distillery cat! Our tour guide was fantastic and was incredibly knowledgeable - he kept us captivated throughout the tour, explaining things in a way everyone understood and making everyone laugh and enjoy themselves. I am not a huge bourbon fan but LOVED this bourbon. It was very good. I also enjoyed how our guide taught us how to adjust our palettes and properly smell bourbons. I can’t emphasize enough how much we enjoyed ourselves! We got some Peerless bourbon and bourbon glasses to commemorate the experience.

Great visit! We apparently were the second group to take their Heritage Tour. It was a very personalized experience where we got to taste a newly opened barrel in addition to a variety of their bourbons and ryes available for purchase (along with a couple of “classic” single barrels that are NOT available for purchase anymore.) Kudos to Kentucky Peerless for waiting until they could bottle their own product to put their name out in the current market. I think their “branding”of the single barrel products with descriptive names is genius although it will make us envious that we can’t buy the same flavor profile at a later time! Oh well, that is the nature of single barrel product. Best wishes to Carson (whom we got to meet) and the rest of the staff at Kentucky Peerless!

Of the four distilleries we visited in the Louisville area, my wife and I rank our experience at Peerless the best. Our guide, a school teacher, did a spectacular job. She was very knowledgeable of the unique Peerless process and obviously loved telling the story. I highly recommend you take the time to visit this distillery the next time you are in Louisville.

We did the Sensory Experience tour. The gift shop is cute and includes viewing area of the distillery and the history of the owners. The best part was when Corky, the current owner came into our tasting and talked to us about his family history as distillers. His father was a righthand man to General Paton. He was also proud to have the distillery number DSP-KY-50. There are now over 20,000 DSP numbers in Kentucky. His products were all at least 105.7 proof and left a warm Kentucky Hug. The bottles are unique as well.

I have a Bourbon Trail tour company and more often they not my customers ask for recommendation. One of my personal top 3 in all of Kentucky is Peerless without hesitation. I find that most people have very little familiarity about the brand or its history. I have taken hundreds of guest to this very special venue and hands down they rave about story, the family heritage, professional tour guides, and the high quality of their Rye and Bourbon brands that they offer. Because of this I am consistently getting praise for this recommendation and the overall enhancement of the bourbon experience in Kentucky. Peerless is a must see distillery on any trail itinerary

The tasting experience was great, and our hostess (I forgot her name) was fantastic.
She was full of knowledge and tidbits of information you would not get anywhere else.
We would have liked to tour more of the factory itself, but wasn't able to because of COVID restrictions. Lots to choose from in the gift area also.

This was one of my favorite tours and tastings. They are a small producer but this is their actual production facility. For $20 you get to tour the facility, get 4 or 5 unique tastings, and keep your tasting glasses. Because they make small batches your tasting experience will be different anytime you come back. If you are doing the tastings in downtown Louisville be sure to include this one.

Very good tour and tasting at Peerless. The distillery had existed in the past and has since been resurrected by the family of the original owner. Their story was significant in the annals of bourbon history. The owner Corky Taylor stopped by our tour twice -once to add to the explanation of the history and again during the tasting. Corky even signed our purchased bottle of the excellent single barrel bourbon.
