Old Louisville Ghost Tour as Recommended by The New York Times

31 reviews
Old Louisville is a fascinating preservation district that has been gaining more and more national exposure because of its impressive collection of Victorian mansions and quirky residents. Developed primarily in the 1880s and 1890s, it once counted as the most sought-after residential enclave in the Derby City. This tour is based on books by author and storyteller David Dominé, who is an expert on Old Louisville and its history. He often shows up to guide the tours himself. The tales shared involve personal experiences and neighborhood gossip. The New York Times recommends a tour with his company, Louisville Historic Tours, as the first thing not to miss during a visitors "36 Hours in Louisville."

Please do not confuse our tours with other tours such as those offered downtown. We specialize in tours of Old Louisville, "America's Most Haunted Neighborhood." We depart from the corner of Fourth and Ormsby. If you love old houses and spooky history, this is the tour for you!

Enjoyable tasting, but found it interesting that most of what we tasted was single barrel items that may not be available again. Just our personal opinion but not sure this would need to be a repeat visit for us.

We visited Peerless this past weekend when friends were visiting from out of town. We had a special surprise when Corky Taylor started off the tour! AWESOME! He is a great story teller. Our guide then took us into the distillery and explained their process. They do a lot of single barrels which distinguishes them from a lot of the larger distilleries. Afterward we got to taste 4 of the single barrels, table socially distanced of course. I purchased one of the single barrels. It was too good to pass up. I am a huge fan of their rye whiskeys. They have a very nice gift shop too. We can't wait to bring more friends and try more single barrels.

What a great experience. We were waiting for the tour to start and a gentleman stopped over to thank us for coming, ask where we were from and had a small discussion. I knew it had to be the owner or distiller. Once the tour started Mr Taylor (Corky) came over and told all of us the history of the distillery. Christina took over and was really knowledgeable and fun and explained the how it is done really well. They even showed us the filtering process with a Barrel when it was ready. I even asked Christina if I could maybe get a signed bottle and they found Mr Taylor and were happy to help. I felt like a kid in a candy store again. Peerless fan for life and will spread the word the best I can. Just great service and experience.

Excellent tour guide, knowledgeable and fun! The owner, Corky Taylor, dropped in our tour and told part of the tour. It was beyond cool to hear him talk about his family history. The tasting was nice, not rushed like most of the other tours we experienced.
