My sister is physically handicapped - we called the venue 4 months prior to the show last evening to reserve handicap seating for her and two other people. Box Office said it would be no problem. We knew prior that this particular venue was usually a standing event venue.

Last night when we arrived there was a small bench (church pew) on the left side of the stage that sat approx 4 people. The staff member in the area would only let my sister and one other person sit there - leaving me - at the concert by myself unable to sit with her or stand near her as the third person.

There were 2 other woman in the handicap area with danced the night away in the handicap area and never used the bench - they were seen "tipping" the staff member at the close of the night.

I went to the box office and to the onsite manager - we just wanted a place my sister could sit and we could sit or stand near her- we just wanted to be together - they manager was rude inattentive and did not to try to accommodate the request. They had a whole upper level empty with chairs and tables - I asked if we could sit up there - he said it would be $40 per person extra to sit in this area that was less than 10% full. We asked if there was anywhere in the giant venue we could have her sit and the two of us sit or stand near her - he said there was not.

He never tried to accommodate the request for us to be together at all - the only time I saw the manager in the venue was when he entered the handicap area to take video and photos of the performer on his cell phone.

My sister does not get out much for the very reason it is hard for her to get around and accessible locations are not easy - th enight turned into an embarrassment for her and one of us being alone all night and separated.

The staff member guarding the handicap area - stated - there was only 1 "assistant" allowed in the area with the said handicap guest. My sister and I were offended by the term "assistant".

It was an easily unavoidable situation if the manager had any common sense.

I don't want this experience to happen to any other patrons. Mercury Ballroom's policy and processes need to be checked and inclusive. MB - Live Nation managers need sensitivity and ADA training.

Unfairly Treated
Oct 2021 • Business
The venue is nice, but the staff, or management, was ridiculous. Went by myself since there was a business convention in town. I’m in Louisville, home of Bourbon, and walking from my hotel to the venue. So yes, I’m going to have some bourbon. I’m not talking to anyone, don’t know anyone, not being rude, belligerent, or a disturbance. Just there feeling the music, like all people feeling the music. Someone in management is thinking I’m swaying too much, not that I’m bumping into people. I’m upstairs alone in a seat with no one around me, that I paid extra for. Again, just enjoying the music. Tipsy, yes, public nuisance, not at all.
They cut off my upstairs tab, not really sure why, I asked if anyone had complained about me, they said no.
I go downstairs, get a bourbon, management says I have to leave. Evicting me. For what I ask? I’m not doing anything or bothering anybody. I’m not that kind of guy. I don’t like loud drinkers, I’ve never been one. Doesn’t matter to them. They kick me out admitting I haven’t bothered anyone.
I stand outside and listen, I paid 55 for the show. I’m talking to the outside staff about other shows coming up. Management comes out and says I’m harassing the staff, and wants me off the front of the building. Even the outside staff say I’m not, I’m just talking to them. I don’t use profanity, not my style,
At this point I think the manager is thinking he may have made a mistake. I stand there for a hour outside just watching through the front glass door window, not disturbing anyone. He is seeing me and knowing I’m not being bothersome. Finally, he lets me back in, I’m sure feeling guilty he kicked out a non-combative patron. So I see maybe the last 3 songs by the artist.
To this day, not sure what warranted such an overreach of management.
Did I really get kicked out of a Louisville nightclub for drinking bourbon and watching a show, while not pestering anyone? Yes, I did

Great venue
Feb 2020 • Couples
Smaller venue but amazing sound quality. There is an upstairs for VIP with movie stadium seating (not sure how many rows). We stayed on the open floor plan which has equal access to restrooms from both sides. Great drink selection, plenty of room to move around, and light and music is amazing. Entry tickets for $25 cannot be beat either. Check it out the venue listen to your favorite artists.

Lord Huron Concert

I came here to see Lord Huron (which was amazing!) and the layout of this place was pretty cool. It was like the same layout as an opera show.

Zakk Wylde?!?!? Intimate Venue
Oct 2019 • Couples
It was phenomenal to be so close to my favorite artist ever. The meet and greet was set up so nice and organized. The stage is so close and intimate, which made for a great sound and show. One of my favorite venues now for the ability to get so close and provide such a special, intimate experience with your favorite artists.

Rock concerts
May 2019 • Friends
My husband and I frequent Mercury for most of their rock shows. It’s easy to find, park at and close to restaurants for a quick bite before a show.
Not a large venue, doesn’t offer seating unless you upgrade to VIP, sound quality is generally on point. We enjoy the variety in acts that tend to book here.
Other reviewers are correct, alcoholic beverages are outrageously high. Very comparable with Churchill, except with a short pour and/or without a souvenir cup.

Biggest drawback to this venue is the homeless that tend to camp out in front of (or side of) the Mercury when a show is happening. Would like to see the money wasted on having a bathroom attendee move to outdoor security; especially following a show.
Highly recommend NOT walking alone to any after-show clubs/eateries nor to your vehicle in downtown Louisville.

Security out of hand
May 2019 • Friends
Do not go to a show here! I wish zero stars was an option. This os the only reason this review has a score of 1, because that is the lowest possible score which they earned.

Not only are drink prices outrageous ($12/beer) but security is also out of control. We were manhandled out of the place after security tried to separate the attractive female with us from our group by saying that needed to talk to her outside. When we resisted and asked why they in turn forced all 3 of us out. They said she was too drunk but we were only on our 2nd drink and were just watching the band and talking between ourselves. Can't for sure be certain of their motivations but it was clear to me they were trying to get her outside. They ended up grabbing her by the arm so forcefully it left a bruise.

We used to go the Mercury quite often for shows, but no more! If there are bands we can't live without seeing we will make plans to see them at other venues which are not owned by LIveNation.

Pop Evil concert
Feb 2019 • Couples
While the area seems small at first, it was actually a perfect size to be right up close to the action. If we had the money to pay for VIP seating there are seats in the balconies that looked like they still would've provided a perfect view. General Admission tickets are standing room only, but that is what allowed us to be right up close to the action. Who wants to sit down during a rock concert anyway? My fiance, in fact, caught one of Hayley Cramer's drumsticks when she threw them into the crowd after the show. The Mercury Ballroom had all necessary amenities, restrooms, coat check, and bar. The drinks were on the pricy side, but that's to be expected with an event like this. The only downside is that currently they are working on the sidewalks of 4th Street so it was impossible park anywhere near the venue (like 2 blocks away, so not horribly bad.) It's still pretty difficult in spots to even walk to it, but we managed. Our tickets were on the phone, which required a barcode to scan, that for some reason had not saved with the ticket. The ticket agent was very patient in helping us figure out how to get it to ensure we could get in. We had a great time and have followed your social media accounts to keep track of who is going to play because we now know that the short trip up to Louisville will most certainly be worth the show we see.

Great small venue!
Oct 2018 • Couples
This is a great place to see live music. It is small and there really isn't a bad place to stand that you cannot easily see the band. I only removed one star for the size and price of drinks. Bud light in the large can was $12. I would much rather be able to buy a smaller can (and for less than $6) so that it doesn't get hot before I finish drinking it.
