The Jefferson Mall offers good shopping in the local neighborhood. The stores are not as high end as other higher end malls in East Jefferson County in Louisville. But, before Jefferson Mall, these options were not available in the South End, so the Jefferson Mall is a wonderful venue!

It's the same story that's playing out at malls everywhere. More people order online so fewer people go to malls to shop, stores leave, malls just turn into places places to mostly hang out while a handful of people shop.
To be sure, there are plenty of decent stores in the mall and the food court is OK, but there are also lots of "filler" businesses occupying spaces and a ton of obnoxious kiosks throughout the corridors.
If you're after something specific from one of the stores here, and you're in the area, this is an alright place to get it. However, it's definitely different from the other malls in the city. We aren't "let's go shop and hang out at the mall all day" people, so this is generally fine for us. If you are, one of the other malls might be better suited for that.

If you are visiting from out of state, I recommend visiting Oxmoor or St. Matt's malls. They are safer and have more variety. Plus, they have quite a few local crafts that you can pick up for souvenirs. For locals and people who live in the area, it is not a bad mall. It has quite a few clothing stores and I really like the shoe store in the mall. Plus, FYE and few other hard to find stores across the country. Be prepared to run because you will be harassed by the Dead Sea Products people. The mall can be a bit rough so be wary.

Great mall to go shopping, eat, or spend some time with the family. They have a food court with a number of places to eat including Chinese food and sandwiches. They also have a few different activities for the kids including Round One which includes a huge arcade, bowling, and pool tables. The place could use a little bit of modernization but not a bad place to spend and hour or two.

This was the place to go back in the day. Now it's just a mess. So many foreign kiosk operators were coming up to me and practically begging for me to look at their goods. I ended up just leaving. I wouldn't imagine this mall has much more time left, and it's so unfortunate.

Went to J-Mall this past weekend to shop for some much-needed items. This used to be a MAJOR mall in the southern part of Louisville - you could basically spend the entire day there shopping and "people watching."
No MORE!! I was actually in fear of being attacked or knocked down. Groups of teens were unattended - either hanging out or running up and down the halls. Even some of the sales people in the stores looked scared! Kids were totally unsupervised - don't know if they "hang out" at this spot (and live nearby) or they get off a bus from another end of town and this is their "meeting" place. No security that I could see ...
And the mall itself was just dirty, dirty, dirty! Trash lying around - overflowing trash cans, no central "food court" (and what there was of food was basically popcorn and junk food).
Whatever management company that owns Jefferson Mall should be horse-whipped. Shame! Shame! Shame!

I love this mall. I enjoy walking & shopping here. We were visiting here for thanksgiving so did not visit till Saturday after. It's very nice. Macy's is here. JCPenny's & Ross. Just a few I went in. But they have a great food court & a Starbucks if you just want to go to eat & people watch. It was quite busy with the Black Friday sales etc.

We stop at this mall for a minute and they hijack my phone and keep after me to review it. Well, careful what you wish for...
It's a stupid mall. All we wanted was Starbucks or something like that. We don't do malls, they're a waste of time and money and low on our list. If they're high on yours and you can actually tell the difference between them, you need help.

I grew up in Louisville and this mall has changed so so much over the years. The locals refer to this mall as "the ghetto mall". It is decent. there are some stores but honestly I would go to St. Mathews mall to actually shop if i was going to the mall to shop for something. I don't think there are any stores in this mall that are not in the other malls. With that being said, this mall is usually less crowded but does have more young people. or at least it did before they opened up the movie theater in St. Mathews.
This is not the Mall of America! its just a building with a bunch of collective stores. Check to see what stores are in each mall. Jefferson, St. Mathews, or Oxmoor and then make your decision on which to visit. :)
