While on a short visit to Louisville we made a quick visit to the cemetery to see the resting places of KFC founder Col. Harland Sanders and boxing legend Muhammad Ali. The two grave sites are about 150 yards apart. It is a rather large and picturesque cemetery. On Google map search. We were taken to a wall surrounding the... More

Cave Hill is beautifully designed and maintained. There's so much Kentucky history traceable there. Many people make a pilgrimage to Muhammad Ali's grave and leave flowers and other memorabilia.

Many life like statues along with stories of the ones you know and do not yet know until you walk through the cemetery and and see the well sculptured statues that most definitely will peak your interest as The Bronze Lady did my children and I.Their are other well known people... I have several generations buried in Cave Hill and the grounds are spectacular. It is one of the most beautiful cemeteries I have ever seen. I take my grandchildren here to feed the ducks at the pond and love taking strolls along the roads to see the amazing monuments that date back to the Civil War. It is peaceful and... More

Yes, this is where Colonel Sanders is buried. No, you can't sit on his grave and eat fried chicken. LOL! They had to stop the picnics because folks were leaving their chicken bones and food wrappers at the site. There is the headstone of a magician a few slots away from the Colonel that is so fascinating and a bit... More

Grew up in Louisville making occasional visits to this grand cemetery to feed the ducks at the ponds in the center of the location. Most recent visit was for genealogical reasons, to find headstones of family. Just a short way into the cemetery, you lose the sounds of the city outside. Very calming, very peaceful. If visiting later in the... More

We enjoy visiting cemeteries - the older and more ornate the better. Cave Hill did not disappoint. Col. Sanders and Ali are buried here but there's so much more too it. The grounds are very well kept and easy to traverse. A good mix of old and new and a breathtaking number of soldiers buried in the National Cemetery section.... More
