This is one of the most beautiful cemeteries I've ever seen. From the civil war area to the mausoleums to the modern day graves of so many great people, this is the kind of graveyard that conjures ghosts and glory in an imaginative mind.

While giving a tour of the city to an out-of-town guest visiting, I made my way to and through Louisville's Cave Hill Cemetery. The cemetery is rich in history with plots for many of Louisville's affluent and famous leaders within the community. I visited the grave sites of KY greats, Kernel Harland Sanders (Wife Claudia) Kentucky Fried Chicken, military officer,... More

One of our friends expressed an interest in seeing cemeteries on our travels. This cemetery dates to 1848. We arrived around 9:30 a.m. on a Sunday. I was most impressed by the two volunteer workers who greeted us. First the man who mows the grass drove up, spoke to me asking if we had any questions, and then gave me... More

I entered this large cemetery wondering how I would ever locate the final resting place of my 2nd great grandparents. The well marked route to the office was the key -- the staff provided a map and great directions to the section where they are buried. Grounds staff also helped me find their headstone in the large section that contained... More

Stunning cemetery and rich in history. Loved finding col sanders, Ali and others. Great Lakes and winding roads. Hard to navigate so be patient.

Visited both Colonel Sanders & the site of the legend Mohammed Ali. Both locations were wonderfully maintained a lovely to pay respects to heroes of the 20th Century. The actual Cemetery itself is huge - y'all will need a car to drive around.

Enjoyed the last tour of the season last night with a neighborhood group. Beautiful 300+ acre location with 1 cave and numerous hills. Meticulously cared for by the staff. Beautiful stone work, horticulture and grass. Monuments are maintained by family endowments or the historical donations. The number of famous residents is amazing. The tour was fact filled and very interesting.... More

Went to Cave Hill with a couple of friends. The place is huge and a bit of a labyrinth. Be sure to stop at the front gate to get a map and briefing from the staff; they were very helpful in giving us the lay of the land. There are some 160,000 people interred there and many graves are well... More

If you appreciate history and interesting stonework this is the place for you . The most prominent people in Louisville 's long life are buried here. Muhammad Ali , George Rogers Clark and many others . It is also a fine place to take bread and feed the geese .
