About
COVID SUGGESTION: If you're a bit nervous about joining a public tour with a vanload of strangers, consider a private tour where YOUR group is the ONLY group there is! Coming to Lexington soon? There are three ways to see this very beautiful part of the world: 1. Do it yourself with maps, perhaps a GPS, and a lot of patience. 2. Take a public tour and join 15-20 fellow visitors on a pre-planned tour of the area. 3. Take a private tour, planned by you and your guide, based on YOUR interests. You'll tour in the comfort of YOUR OWN VEHICLE. Your guide can drive so you can soak up the scenery, but that's entirely up to you. If #3 sounds good to you, that's where we can help. Our tours range from as little as 4 hours, to a full day, or more - depending on your interests and budget. Start your planning early. That gives us time to learn about you and your interests and create a proposal for you. You're coming to one of the most beautiful and interesting places you've ever been!

John was a fantastic guide, providing a wealth of information on the horse industry in Lexington. A really informative tour. It was a pleasure spending time with John
I would thoroughly recommend that you use John as a guide to experience up close the racing and horse farm scene in Lexington

My husband and I recently went to Lexington, KY. We were picked up at our area hotel by John who toured us through beautiful horse country, providing a lot of wonderful information about Lexington in general and all things horses, breeding, and racing in particular. We were able to observe the Keeneland morning workouts which was so much fun and later, tour Claiborne which is one of the premiere thoroughbred breeding farms (and where Secretariat is buried). John even gifted us with some Kentucky goodies at the end of the tour when he brought us back to our hotel.

John Midbo was a great guide through the Blue Grass country. Our trip included breakfast at the Keeneland Cafe, which is great food and the place to see jockeys, trainers, and other Keeneland personnel. This was fun. We then toured Keeneland and watched as horses trained. John explained how the training worked and how important it was to follow the directions of the trainer. Keeneland is beauritful and unique in horse tracks. I will leave that secret for John to explain to you. John was patient and answered all our questions, no matter how small or silly! After Keeneland, we went to Clairborne Farm a 5th-generation family-owned horse farm. John and Billy (staff of Clairborne) were knowledgable, enthusiastic about the horse, and fun. It is amazing to learn the lineage of horses and how many came from Clairborne! We had a great day.

John was a great guide for over 4 hours. We started right on time and ended right on time. It was very informative and we got to see the horse farms we wanted including a visit to Keeneland in the morning to see horses working out.
We’re very glad we hired John to show us the Lexington horse farms.

John is the consummate tour guide to the Beautiful Horse Farms in and around Lexington. He is very knowledgeable, easy to listen to and he is a great photographer as well. My friend and I took his tour this past Saturday and we thoroughly enjoyed the private tour and all John had to share with us.

He took us to Keeneland, and then to the Claiborne Farm. We learned so much talking with John and came away from from the tour feeling more enlightened about the Thoroughbred Race Horse Industry, and excited to have met and seen some of Claibornes Farm's more beautiful and valuable Stallions.

It was also wonderful to visit the final resting place of the great Secretariat, and to learn more about his retirement and the foals he sired.

I would highly recommend choosing John for any future tour of the Lexington Thoroughbred Farms in the Lexington area.

Wow, fantastic tour!!!! John has a great itinerary. We had a wonderful experience with him. He is very flexible and I felt very well taken care of during while under his care. On top of being a great guide John is also very well thought of by the folks at the places we visited, which makes for a seamless experience. John provided information that we would not have found out on our own. So well done. John is the consummate tour guide and delivers a premium experience, complete with great photos. Book one of his tours now – you will not regret it!

John is a fantastic guide. Our family of four (daughters 9&11) thoroughly enjoyed touring the area with him, hearing the stories and learning about Lexington and the horse industry. John kept us all interested and engaged as we moved from site to site, enjoying the flexibility of having our own private guide.

John was AMAZING!! If you want to relax in your own car, while enjoying the scenery and history around you, book him! Honestly wished we booked him for 2 days instead of one. He was so knowledgeable and could tell he had such passion for his community which made the trip all the more enjoyable.
He had great suggestions when we originally booked with him about which farms to visit and in which order. Even told us where to go to purchase tickets, etc.. When we arrived at our places you could tell he was a respected member of the community, everyone knew his name and came over to say hi. John even took pictures for us (asked first) so we didn’t have to fumble with ours while getting to pet horses and/or worrying about missing something.
We hope to one day come back and book him for more experiences!

I have lived in Lexington 20 years but decided to take a tour with John when my family came to visit from the UK. I learned so much about the wonderful town I live in and thoroughly enjoyed the morning tour of Keeneland and Claiborne farm. John was a delight to spend time with. My family also enjoyed John’s insight and knowledge of our beautiful State.

My daughter (15), three friends and I went on this great tour in May 2023. We first went to Keeneland and opted in on the breakfast, which was a great idea. Not only was it good, but we got to eat in the midst of jockeys and trainers. The tour of Keeneland went through what happens on the day of a race as well as the history of racing at the track. we also got to see thoroughbreds working out which was amazing. We then went on a drive through horse country and learned a lot about the horse farms in the area before we arrived at Claiborne, where the manager of the stallions himself showed us the stallion barn as well as multiple stallions. We learned all about breeding and got the opportunity to learn more about Secretariat and see his burial site. A great, informative tour. John made us feel comfortable right away!
