- Plan on a tour, experience the historic cultureWhen you think of bourbon and what it means to not only central Kentucky but the roots of many of our modern day pastimes, there is really only one stop to make. The home of the deepest parts of the roots that still exist today are right here at Wild Turkey, enjoying the Russels immersion tour really brings you deep into that culture. Our guide Dwight was amazing, his knowledge and passion was reflected in the amazing tour we got. The whole experience really felt like we were just among friends enjoying a great day of historic American passtime, smelling bourbon and watching the beautiful view over the Kentucky River.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 29, 2024
- Wild about Wild Turkey visitThis was by far the best distillery experience I have had while doing the Bourbon trail. The visitor center is awesome- great bar with food available. Staff are wonderful and very helpful. Lots good items in gift shop with bottles available for purchase. The have smoked drinks available. It was amazing to get Jim Pepper to sign some stuff and get a picture with him. i did the Russell tasting and Tyler was awesome!! He was very knowledgeable and helpful. I would do a tasting with him again and return to the visitor center againVisited June 2024Traveled soloWritten June 7, 2024
- LTGLFFrankfort, KentuckyEnjoy the Russell’s experience! We did the Russell’s experience. Bo was our tour guide. He was informative and engaging. The Russell’s brand tasting was one of the best I have had on the Bourbon Trail. Meeting and talking to Mr Jimmy Russell was a treat! The new Wilding Turkey visitors center was worth the wait. It it Is beautiful and well furnished.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 4, 2024
- A pleasant surprise!A fantastic and informative tour of the facility! It is very well done, organized with bus transportation and a tasting at the end. We also got to meet Jimmy Russell and his wife and have a bottle signed! That was a very nice treat and a great conversation! I highly recommend this tour. It was definitely one of our favorites!Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 8, 2024
- Melissa HGeorgetown, KentuckyHistory and beautyDo the Russell tour. Pay the extra money. If you have done lots of tours they can become repetitive. Bo was our guide and was incredible! We loved everyone who worked there. They all seemed to love their job! The visitors center is recently opened and beautiful! The view of the river would be pretty in any season. It’s not as big or flashy as some on the trail… but it is absolutely more intimate and personal.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 14, 2024
- SheriffBTJusticeTexas Gulf Coast, TexasDon't Miss This PlaceOf all the distilleries we visited, this was by far the best and most informative. The tours are conducted in a brand-new visitor center and an on-site bus brings around to various parts of the plant, including the rickhouse where the barrels are stored until ready for bottling. The view from the back porch is not to be missed.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 16, 2024
- JerPre11Georgetown, KentuckyWild Turkey Tasting and Rye was phenomenalBen did a great job explaining the different profiles of the 4 bottles we tasted. I’m not a big rye fan, but glad we had Single Barrel Rye in our lineup. It was fantastic, so we bought a bottle from the gift shop.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 28, 2024
- Top 3 best Distllery visits in Kentucky!!We had a tasting and the person leading us through was amazing and knowledgeable. His presentation really brought us to the times were Wild Turkey all started and How the Russell family plays in my opinion the most important role in the success of Wild Turkey. We were totally surprised to met Mr. Russell and his lively wife. The visitor grounds were amazing and all staff were very kind and helpful! And Wild Turkey in a glass speaks for itself! Thank you for an amazing and memorable visit! ❤️🥃🇺🇸Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 6, 2024
- Wild Turkey has a New Visitor Center—Wow!I’ve been to the Wild Turkey visitor center, a few times, in the past. I always thought it was nice, but I went there more for the bourbon than the atmosphere. Now…with the recent refurbishment, the “new” visitor center is a “total experience “. The staff checks you in, at the door, for tours-tastings, with comfortable seating, where you can wait for your tour. The tasting rooms are right there, so you can just relax, until your tour is called, if you choose to. But why sit around, when there is so much to see and do. There are two bars—one upstairs and one downstairs. The upstairs bar serves food, and although it is not an extensive menu, it is certainly tasty and varied enough to take the edge off. There is very nice outdoor patio seating overlooking a scenic gorge, which is a perfect place to enjoy your drink. WT offers a large selection of their bourbons, for both sampling at the bar and for purchase. One must pay for samples, yet that way you know if you like an expression, or love it. I’d be hard pressed to name a WT bourbon expression I did not thoroughly enjoy. We had a special treat, on the day we visited. Jimmy Russell a true legend, among the bourbon community, was there, with his wife, and they both signed our Field Guides and bottles. What are the chances! Mr Russell, and his wife, are both very approachable, just like their bourbon, and very friendly. I was told they drop in, on a fairly regular basis. Bottles were flying off the shelves, so folks could get them autographed by the longest active master distiller, in the world. Make sure you plan a stop at Wild Turkey…you will not regret it!!Visited August 2024Traveled with friendsWritten August 17, 2024
- stan vClaremont, CaliforniaGreat Tour for Bourbon lovers.Great tour fun and interesting. David our tour guide was great. Very knowledgeable about the process of making Wild Turkey and the history of the Distillery. The visitor center is beautiful. The best part was meeting Jimmy Russell and his wife, chatting with them and having our picture taken together. If you’re a bourbon lover, this experience is a must.Visited August 2024Traveled with friendsWritten August 29, 2024

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Wild Turkey! We didn't do the tour, just visited the gift shop. The building was absolutely beautiful and Jimmy Russell was there, signing bottles and posing for pictures! I had heard he hangs out there and was so glad to see that we caught him. He was so gracious and friendly - definitely a highlight of the trip. The tours were over for the day so we were allowed to walk to the back of the building where the tastings happen, and check out the view. It was stunning! Such a beautiful area. We'll definitely go back next time we're in the area.

Wonderful Bourbon tasting!!! Wild Turkey is superior at making high proof bourbons, full of flavor, smooth as jazz! This was an excellent value, very informative.
My wife doesn’t like bourbon but she loves their American Honey Bourbon Liquor. I scored a Ky Spirit at the gift shop (which i believe is single barrel 101) but down the road at Big Blue Liquors I found a barrel pick Russell’s Reserve!
Thank you to the Wild Turkey & Campari,

Adam was a great guide to all things Wild Turkey, even though it was virtual and in a tasting room. The scenery around the distillery is breathtaking! The gift shop is packed full of goodies at a very reasonable price. We will most definitely return one day and we hope to be able to do a more in-depth tour. Highly recommend a visit to Wild Turkey.

You think of Wild Turkey as the affordable whiskeys. At the tastings, you get to try the higher end versions and they are very good. I'm not a drinker, but I did try all the tastings at all the distillery tours we went to and Wild Turkey was the smoothest for me! The site is beautiful with the bridge backdrop outside. Our guide was very funny and entertaining. I recommend trying all distilleries because you are not limited to what the Liquor Stores carry.

We have been to Wild Turkey for many years and have had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy Russell many times.
As the previous owner of the Kavanaugh House B&B and Tea Room, it was my pleasure having Jimmy Russell host Bourbon tasting parties there and hearing him talk of going to school in the historic home when it was a school. A lot of great memories I will always cherish.

My wife and I had a great time taking part in the "Turkey Takes Flight" tasting at Wild Turkey. While I have toured the facility a few years ago with our sons, This year, we were happy just to be able to visit the distillery and sample the GREAT whiskey's produced. This was also my wife's first whiskey tasting. Our guide did an excellent job with his virtual presentation showing and explaining how the products are distilled. This, coupled with the tasting technique, made it a very enjoyable....and delicious experience for the both of us. Hopefully, in person tours will come back in the near future.

We arrived and checked in at the Wild Turkey Visitors Center and low and behold, Jimmy Russel was in the lobby to great guests. He is a most generous, gracious and kind gentleman. He was very interesting to chat with and was kind enough to allow us to take some picture with him. Our tour guide was Adam. A very interesting individual who presented information about this iconic distillery in a fun and understanding manner... Oh! Did I mention Bourbon! We had a great time during our little bourbon trail endevour! Thanks to all for a great time!

This was a truly unique experience. The Visitor's Center is my favorite on the Bourbon Trail. The guide was a highly-trained expert in his craft; you can tell he knows his way around a distillery. And the treat was going into a rickouse that was built in 1894!! The tasting offered five distinct products. That is the most I have gotten on a tour so far.

My husband and I love Wild Turkey Distillery -- we have traveled down there several times from Bloomington, IN. The staff is friendly and informative, and we always learn something new on each trip. I even bought a book on the history of Bourbon making in Kentucky, because it is a story of American inventiveness and ingenuity.
Usually, we see Jimmy Russell (one of the founders) in the gift shop, answering questions and signing bottle labels. Unfortunately, we did not see him on this trip, but there is always next time and we will be back !!

Yes, currently you have to have reservation for a tour or tasting. Get it set up early because they fill up fast! The gift shop is available without a tour or reservation. You will have to provide contact tracing information to comply with their Covid-19 policy.

What was the recipe Bubba gave out on the tour for the chicken marinade? He was out tour guide and I can’t find the recipe anywhere.

Do we need to pre-purchase tickets or just get them at the door?
Written March 12, 2017
Buy them at the door. But go early. The tours sell out shortly after lunch. And try to get your tour with Bubba. He's a riot.

I recommend calling the distillery before your visit. I believe she can but she might not be able to attend the tasting portion.

I want to amend my review. After several MONTHS of attempts, multiple calls, emails, and submissions of proof, they did finally mail a check for my refund. The staff was very nice but their system is so bad they can't correct errors on their own.
Go see them, it is a nice place. Just make sure you get charged correctly before you sign the receipt.

Myself and my sister in law ageing between 55-62 will be in Nashville next July, and would like to do a tour of your Distillery & Kentucky, do you know of any tours that could accommodate us leaving from Nashville or would it be viable to get a bus independently, safety is our top priority, thanks in advance

It would all depend on how far from Nashville you are wanting to travel. To get to Bourbon country you have to travel 3 hours northeast to the area of Lawrenceburg Kentucky. kybourbontrailcom. This link will give you a detailed list of the places and tour options out there. I have been to several places and the tours are very nice and informative. I hope this helps you.
