We took my granddaughter and we all thoroughly enjoyed the zoo and the cave. The flash light tour was a step back in time. It was an easy walk through the cave, just the right distance for young and old alike! Tour guide friendly and fun. It is a fair hike thru the zoo so plan accordingly if you want... More

I covered the many merits of Kentucky Down Under in a previous review so I will keep this more concise. The Mammoth Onyx Cave may be relatively short in length, but it is large on charm. The cave tour is small and personal which is a welcome relief from the crowds at Mammoth Cave. The cave is alive with life... More

This short tour is really great for children and adults with short attention spans. My 11-year-old finds caves boring and he enjoyed it. I love caves and I even enjoyed this one. Our guide was informative about the cave's history and formations. He even told some corny jokes, which I very much enjoyed. I think our tour guide really made... More

Interesting underground walk. Everyone grabs a helmet at the gift shop before heading underground. Absolutely recommended if you're over 5'8". Several low hanging formations and a spot or two that will make a heavy person uncomfortable. Not recommended if you have trouble on steps or don't like dark, wet places. Our guide was excellent, well informed and humorous.

Went on a Friday afternoon around 11. There were 9 of us. You meet in the gift shop to get your flashlight and optional hard hat. This was part of the Groupon we purchased for Ky Down Under. You ascend not too far down the path. It does get tight and slippery. I would not take small children and babies... More

The Mammoth Onyx Cave, which is included in the admission price of Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo, is a small but interesting cave. We were given miner style head protection and flashlights to view the cave. Our tour guide was interesting and had many cave fun facts to share with the group. It was a nice cool break from the... The tour was informative and short. Very pretty formations! Tour guide was awesome and kept the kids engaged. He welcomed questions and answered them with enthusiasm. I enjoy caves and enjoyed this one.

So this is still an active cave. We went after a rain storm and it was like it was raining in the cave. The cave was really wet. Having done 2 different cave tours the day before I was not expecting it be so wet and did not wear appropriate shoes. My daughter had flip flops on and I had... More

Took my 3 teenage grandsons. The older two had been to Mammoth Cave earlier in the week the youngest had never been in a cave. All 3 really enjoyed it!! Touring an active cave by flashlight is a wonderful experience, you had time on the tour to look at everything. We never felt rushed, and never had any difficulty hearing... More

This was included with our ticket to Kentucky Down Under. Our guide was funny and knowledgeable. We had a big group and no one asked questions, so we were on and out in about 45 minutes. There is a tight spot towards the end and a few spots are wet and muddy. There is a low hanging stalactite that your... More
