This was a fun attraction to do that wasn't related to the Whiskey Trail (which we had been doing plenty of). The boat is an old paddle boat, which is pretty cool. Now you can say you've been on the Kentucky river in a paddle boat!! There was plenty of seating, on the upper and lower deck, which allowed great... More

Hot was the day but we rode up on top of the boat and got a wonderful view of everything. Pilot was informative and funny. Well worth the $10 dollar ticket. Good for kids and adults. Also sell drinks and some food below deck, where there are tables and chairs to sit in the shade but not much breeze. This... More

The reason I titled this slightly disappointed are some things that could not be changed in a hurry! The boat could have used a new paint job, the speaker system could be updated, I could not hear the narration due to other people talking loudly like they were having a family reunion! The other disappointment was the debri in the... More

Boat in rough shape but ok - most frustrating not being able to hear the audio on lower deck. :(. Pretty river. Wish I knew what they said. No one else could hear well either.

Even in a thunderstorm and pouring rain, this boat cruise did not disappoint. Tickets for the 1-hour cruise are available through Shaker Village. The Kentucky River and its tributary, the cold River Dix, are featured. Our guide was incredibly articulate and informative. Learning about the river, wildlife, fish and the Kentucky cliffs was fun for the kids. When you see... More

The ride is pleasant. The orientation along the way is informative with points of interest ( caves, fish varieties , history ) and running dialogue. The view is best from upper deck. There is a high water mark in the parking lot that will give pause to imagine such volume. The commentary about the train trestle & the nearby park... More

The river is lovely, but the best part was the boat captain/tour guide who has the rare gift of delivering an almost theatrical performance. You could understand every work and he made it entertaining as well as educational. Nice to see some kayaks on the water. Do not attempt to walk from Shaker Village to the boarding area....it's a long... More

We rode the Dixie Belle Riverboat on 10-11-2015.. It is across the road from The Shaker Village. It is where the Shakers loaded and unloaded their goods. The KY. river is the longest in state river in the U.S.A good cruise with limestone cliffs. The "High Bridge" is taller than the Empire State building..

We bought our tickets at the Shaker Village and drove down to the boat dock. Very pleasant drive down a country lane to access the dock. The crew were great with information about the development of the river, the paddle boat, the wildlife on the river bank etc It all made for a relaxing sail just over an hour in... More

Purchased tickets at Shaker Village and took the afternoon ride. You have to drive from Shaker Village to get to the boat. The road to the landing was very narrow and winding but beautiful. The one hour cruise was relaxing and beautiful. The guide was knowledgeable about wildlife, area history and the land. He was quick to point out turtles,... More
