The history of the " sunken ship " as locals call it, was so interesting to hear the story of the cement ship. A great gift shop with such beautiful items to choose from. Beach is so nice and everyone enjoyed looking for cape may "diamonds". Have to watch the sunset. Gorgeous!

If you're going for the silky sand and beautiful water, then don't stop here. If you want a peaceful day, great breeze and killer sunet, then definitely spend a day here. IMHO it's time well spent 1

This was a different type of beach than we had grown accustomed to traveling the Jersey Shore. It was an easy drive from downtown Cape May with plenty of parking in the middle of the day. No beach tags needed, thank goodness! It's a fairly steep slope but still with plenty of room to sit and spread out on the... More

The beach is a nice Beach for families with small children. The waves are small. The parking is free, and the beach is free also. The beach faces west toward Delaware Bay so there is not the wind and waves that come from the ocean. On the downside, the sand us more clumpy and filled with more shells and rocks.... More

So we've been to Cape May many times, but this is the first time we've gotten to Sunset beach. This is a great stop. This is the place to search for the Cape May diamonds. I'm sure you've heard about this but it is better than you probably imagined. When you walk up to the beach, all you see is... More

We weren't here very long - going back later today however - but we walked a small portion of the beach here. Nowhere near as crowded as the Cape May city beaches, but they're not lifeguarded which I assume keeps the crowd down. "Cape May Diamonds" are everywhere as this is not your typical powder-sand beach. It's pebbly and calm... More

This is a great place to watch the sunset. The weather was great. They have a casual grill to get a bite to eat and a gift shop with clean restrooms. I went on a Friday night and they were having a memorial to a veteran that was there. They let the veteran's family lower the flag and folded to... More

I've been going to Wildwood and Cape May since I'm a child with my family. Now 30 years later I make it a point to visit Sunset Beach at least once every summer. The sunset is gorgeous and the flag lowering ceremony is very touching, honoring a different military veteran every night. I brought my cousin and his family who... More

I'm 34, and I used to come to Sunset Beach starting when I was a teenager - the parking lot was gravel with no painted lines, there were two or three little shacks that were the "shops," and it was just less known. Nowadays, this is definitely a commercial operation with many shops, an (extremely overpriced) grille to eat at,... More
