The Kentucky State Capital is a beautiful building as are most state capitols. Of particular note, the building has a great rotunda area which was recently renovated in 2010. Additionally, the Kentucky State Capital does a great job of incorporating Kentucky history into the paintings...More

This is an incredible building! First parking - parking in the structure is the best, just make sure you don't park in a reserved spot and risk getting a nasty sticker on your side window. You can park around the capitol, but it is somewhat...More

We were very impressed with how beautiful this capitol is. The marble was stunning. We did a self-guided tour and were able to get into the Supreme Count and the House. The collection of dolls of the First Ladies was neat and unique to look...More

The Kentucky state capitol building rests on some nicely manicured grounds, with the Floral clock in the neighborhood. Tours are available during the week and early on Saturdays. There is a great overlook on the west side of town. Nice place to browse around.

Take time to do a guided tour so you don't miss the murals in the ceilings, the reasons particular people are in particular places, where the marble came from, etc. Doll lovers will enjoy the cases of First Ladies in their inaugural finery.

The marble and granite are impressive. The paintings in the rotunda dome tell stories of the progress of Kentucky but each contains a mythology character. The grounds offer a rose garden and a Governor's Mansion. Many of the herbs used for cooking in the Mansion's...More

Come on Kentucky... clean it up ! The rotunda looks nice though.....but we have seen cleaner restrooms in a Georgia interstate rest stop... and the mold and mildew around the skylights and HVAC vents in the House and Senate rooms is disgusting. The lichen and...More

The Capitol building is closed on Sunday but you could see the outside of the building. However, do consider coming Mon-Fri 9-4 for an inside tour or Sat 10-2 for a view inside.
