Step back in time to the late 1820's. Walking through the huge entrance doors you can almost smell the history of politics, assassination, and grandeur. Our fantastic tour guide Roger was extremely knowledgeable, passionate and his love of history is beyond imagine. We were transported back in time with his excellent retelling of stories from not only Frankfort, but also... More

Fabulous tour!! The tour guide was so passionate about ky history!! A must! So glad I went! I learned so much about the history of the capitol I never knew. Who would've thought Ky had something so unique to offer outside of Derby & Mammouth Caves.

This is a trivia question. What was the only Union State Capitol captured by the Confederate army? The answer of course is Frankfort, Kentucky. It is only an hour long tour but worth it for history buffs. It's a stately old building in downtown Frankfort near the Kentucky Historical Center( free parking there for guests). To get the most bang... More

This Greek Revival building situated on a large lot surrounded by large shade trees. Inside visitors will see the building as it was when used as the House and Senate chambers. Architect GIdeon Shyrock's staircase which is held in place by one stone is impressive. While there a trip down the street to the Kentucky History Center is a must.... More

You must reserve a tour and our guide was excellent. The building itself is not too exciting but the history was told in a very interesting way.

This is an amazing building that helps shape your experience of the city. When you get a great tour guide like Roger, it makes you appreciate this city's history and the people behind it. Tour takes an hour but it's worth every minute. Oh, did I say it's FREE! Tours are on the hour and start at the front door.

We had a private tour and found out LOTS....more than I really cared to know since I'm not that super into history. The docent was very likeable and kind to us. I wish I could remember his name. To be fair, we were running late and needed to move on to our destination for the night. It was weird that... More

We had not planned to see the Old Capital building in Frankfort but happened into the Kentucky Historical Mus. when they were talking about this tour. It is FREE with the Museum admission. It is 2 blocks from the Museum and you get to go inside . The Old Capital is 2 stories tall and fully restored inside. Very interesting.

The tour at the Old State Capitol is a must see for Kentuckians or anyone interested in history or antiques. The building has beautiful architecture as well! We always attend the Summer Concerts here! This place is a Kentucky treasure!

An amazing exploration of Kentucky's old Capital Building! The architecture was breathtaking. Our Tour Guide, Roger, was very polite and informative. He was very knowledgeable and passionate in his narrative and he provided a colorful detail of the rich history held within the building and it's surroundings. The building was undergoing some restorative work at the time of our visit... More
