My husband is a forever fan of Kentucky Afield. He saw an episode featuring Salato Wildlife Education Center and decided we should take one of our grandson's there during Spring Break. This must be how it felt to be Elvis. We had the place almost...More
Went through Frankfort to visit the New Capitol Building and found this attraction also. The indoor and outdoor exhibits as well as the animals in their natural habitat are very nicely represented. This is great for kids as well as adults.

My son asked today to go to Salato. There are indoor/outdoor animals. The indoor tend to be aquatic/stuffed. Occasionally, staff brings out an animal for interaction. Outdoor animals are accessible via a wide, paved walkway. There are additional trails & a fishing pond on site.
Nice place to view bison, deer, fawn, bear, bobcats, bald eagle and elk. You can spend a good afternoon viewing the open cages. There is a lake for fishing. A good place for family picnics and an education center on nature.
