Great place to visit with a group of kids. They can see why wildlife in Kentucky is all about. If you’re in town stop here, very interesting and you can stay 15 minutes or 2-3 hours.....

Salato offers a self guided tour of live animals and exhibits. It is surrounded by lakes and hiking trails as well with picnic areas to enjoy the day. There is also fishing.

Went through Frankfort to visit the New Capitol Building and found this attraction also. The indoor and outdoor exhibits as well as the animals in their natural habitat are very nicely represented. This is great for kids as well as adults.

My son asked today to go to Salato. There are indoor/outdoor animals. The indoor tend to be aquatic/stuffed. Occasionally, staff brings out an animal for interaction. Outdoor animals are accessible via a wide, paved walkway. There are additional trails & a fishing pond on site.

Nice place to view bison, deer, fawn, bear, bobcats, bald eagle and elk. You can spend a good afternoon viewing the open cages. There is a lake for fishing. A good place for family picnics and an education center on nature.

Thanks to my sister, local to the area, we visited this hidden gem! Educational at a reasonable price to view and learn about local animals in their native habitat! Interesting the supporters for the habitats; Buffalo Trace supporting the buffalo exhibit :) They made it...More

We reserved one of the shelters for a family reunion here. I was pleased that they actually had flushing toilets instead of the hole-in-the-ground or port a pots like some parks. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. We welcomed the air conditioned nature center...More
