Ashton Winery is an excellent choice for any traveler. We were on our way to Mosselbay when we had a flat tire. The owner and his wife immediately assisted us and ensured that we reach our destination safely. Upon entering the Ashton Kelder, we were greeted with kindness. Their wine was well-balanced and achieved perfect harmony between the five components of acid, alcohol, sugar, tannin, and water. I would definitely recommend the prize-winning Sauvignon Blanc 2022. Their sandwiches are delicious with fresh, homemade bread, accompanied by their own sauce. The picturesque view and break away from city life are perfect for a weekend or holiday road trip. The affordable prices are just one of the many reasons to make this a "must-visit" wine farm in the area.

We had a lovely chocolate and wine pairing - the best way to discover new wines for me.
We didn't really have explainations on the wines we were tasting, as the waiter was new and didn't really know much about it.
It didn't disturb me as I'm not a wine connaisseur, but I assume it would be a problem for others...
Worth a try...

Wow, what a nice surprise! My husband and I stumbled upon this place during our latest trip of the Robertson region and we were pleasantly surprised. Ashton Winery makes delicious white and red wines, that everyone can afford. The setting is beautiful, its child friendly since it has a jungle gym and the wine tasting is absolutely free. It's worth the journey to stop here for a quick tasting and few boxes of wine - when you see the prices you'll understand that you have to buy more than just a few bottles. Oh and they deliver for free anywhere in the Western Cape!

We has a personal reason (my partner's late husband's name) to visit this winery which is situated quite close to the rather busy R60 main road into Ashton. So not exactly the most tranquil of settings. The tasting option was interesting - a selection of six varieties with six different chocolate accompaniments, accompanied by tasting notes for each combination. Slightly surprised to find the wine we then chose to buy (actually at the top end of a very reasonably priced range) being out of stock. No sales pitch pressure though that applies to most RSA wineries in our experience.

Thank you so much for your review. It is quite unfortunate that we did not have the limited release wines to purchase but we only make limited stock of these 2 wines, we are however busy with the harvest season so we do hope to have the new releases in stock by month end.

We visited the cellar on a Monday afternoon. Didn't plan the visit - just made the decision in the spur of the moment while driving by.
Lovely experience!
The waitress was very welcoming and friendly.
Great value for money wines.

We had the Belgium chocolate pairing. Very well priced and rather nice. Play area for the little ones allows for some focused wine tasting. Nice bubbly as well. Worth a stop.

This wine farm is GREAT for families with kids. Make a day of it and enjoy a picnic for only R200 for two people - it includes wine too! There is no need to take a blanket because they have pillows available but I would recommend taking one just in case all the pillows are gone. Kids will enjoy the giant chess board. Sit under the trees or bring an umbrella to enjoy your picnic whilst the kids play on the jungle gym. Food and wine pairings are only R30 to taste 5!

We had the wine pairing in the modern and bright tasting room which overlooks the lawn and the vineyards across the road. The wines were great drinking and the pairings were perfect. Very nice experience.

It was our first visit to this very modern cellar and we really enjoyed it. After doing some wine tasting we decided to try their pairing. It was very different as they gave us five wines and 5 different foods, and we were told to try them and decided which food went best with which wine. It was a most enjoyable visit and it is right on the main road, so very easy to find.

Stopped by for a quick wine and chocolate pairing. The hosts were very friendly and the wine of course was delicious. The chocolates although paired well with each wine they were quite small and only allowed for 1 or 2 bites. That is the only criticism I can say. The venue is amazing and the view even more spectacular overlooking the wine valley.
