"... a wonderful collection, and it's FREE! Thank you" a recent visitor. The Swope's Cars of Yesteryear Museum features vehicles ranging from the early 1900's to the 1960's in a variety of makes and models in both original condition and restored condition. After years of planning and nine months of construction, Swope`s Cars of Yesteryear opened in May 1999. The collection consists of sixty magnificent machines of the past, all museum quality. These are exciting automobiles that stir memories of long ago days when motoring was a fun-filled adventure. Our museum allows car fans and collectors to admire the progression of automobiles over time. Our collection includes antique cars like the 1914 Model T and the 1925 Pierce Arrow to classics like the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro and the 1956 Thunderbird.

Beautiful, clean, very knowledgeable regarding each car. Very passionate about the cars and the history of not only the cars but the family. Mr. & Mrs. Swope. If it wasn't for their passion we wouldn't be able to enjoy seeing them. And paying it forward with free admission! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience.

The facility is located among the Swope auto dealerships. it is a very nice facility. There is no admission charge. A lady and man that worked there were extremely friendly and helpful. She advised that Mr. Swope started collecting years ago. If I correctly recall she said he was now 94. His collection is magnificent. It consist of can of... More

This is an Exquisite venue for vintage cars. The Curator was personable knowledgeable and Mr. Swope's, who. owns these vehicles, is generous and sharing them with the public. They are documented and storied. This is a free museum. No memorabilia to buy nothing to spend a dime on. Just a generous give back to the community and the world. Loved... More

We arrived the first day of reduced winter hours so only had about 55 minutes till they closed at 4:00 PM EST. :( Poor planning on our part as the displayed vehicles are beautiful, have unique histories of acquisition details, etc. on nice signage by each vehicle & the curator had interesting anecdotal information for many of the vehicles as... This is a must-see for any car lover that is near Elizabethtown, KY. Great cars, all in perfect shape. The host of our (free!) tour was Shannon (pictured on the right), who knows a lot about each car and its history and treated us like family. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

This was an amazing car museum, not big, but well maintained and free. It is on the Swope dealership lot and can be easily missed, but make sure to stop. Beautiful cars with well written historical background. They even had one of my first cars there, 1962 Chrysler Imperial with push button gear shift. (I'm not that old though, course... More

This museum is in two parts for public viewing. You have to ask to see the other part. If you like the cars which were built to last built by hand and built with love or just want to see the cars of your youth, this is the place, unless you happen to be a personal friend of Jay Leno.... More

A wonderful collection of classic and vintage vehicles obtained by the Swope family, a Louisville automotive dynasty.

A great collection of classic cars seldom found elsewhere in museums. Friendly staff ask to go to the annex where more gems are kept
