About
The Kentucky Artisan Distillery opened in 2012, as Oldham County's first distillery since Prohibition. We are a contract distiller and bottler, and are now the home of Jefferson's Bourbons. Guests learn the story behind this incredibly unique brand while touring a craft distillery in an up-close and personal way. Every tour is a behind-the-scenes tour!

This distillery is a craft distillery. I had never really understood what a craft Bourbon was until I visited this establishments. Our experience was very good here, the people were super friendly and very pleasant to be around. The distillery is small yet inviting and the gift shop is exactly what you would expect, only sold the essentials. The tour price was reasonable and the tasting afterwards was a great experience.

I recommend stopping in for an visit if you are traveling through the Bourbon Trail, or live close by and want something to do for a few hours.

On a side note, my wife and I were introduced too what we are upon to be one of our favorite Bourbons.

It was such a memorable experience. Patty rolled out the red carpet and redefined hospitality. She made some calls for me to be able to get some of the different limited collection they didn’t have in stock, and to top it off, she arranged for me to meet the owner Trey and have my bottles signed. Those bottles are not getting touched for a long time. Trey was great. Every staff member was awesome and very friendly. Steve did a great job being our tour guide as well. Definitely worth the trip. I am now a much bigger fan than I was before going on the tour. Thank you everyone for such a wonderful experience.

The 4-sample tasting was Our favorite part as it led to our purchase of Jefferson Reserve very old, autographed. Our guide was funny and easy to understand as to the inner workings of a distillery. We watched the workers on line doing their tasks and thoroughly enjoyed every detail. An hour well spent and added another gold star to Our first trip to Your beautiful bluegrass State of Ky.

Bob, the tour guide, did a fantastic job. We enjoyed learning about Jefferson’s products. and the other products the make. The Jeffersons Ocean story is very interesting. They have a nice gift shop. It’s not as polished as some of the big distillery tours but it is very personal. My wife and I liked it. I highly recommend the tour if you want a more intimate experience.

The small group and complete tour of a working distillery was very up close and more personal than any other on the trail. Patti was very knowledgeable and made the tour relevant to each guest. She made sure she engaged all our senses so even the novice and more experienced bourbon consumers were thrilled to be at Jefferson’s. Everyone there has the innovative spirit of the founders!

Hearing the Jefferson's story turned me around from thinking the Ocean edition was just a gimmick. OK, yea it is but it is undeniably different and yummy. More importantly so is their standard aged variety. Fantastic they are open in 2020.

We had a reservation at 10am on a Friday and we were lucky enough to get a private tour! This was our first stop of 3 and we thoroughly enjoyed the one on one we received. We were able to ask numerous questions and learn a lot about the art of making bourbon. The facility is very small compared to the big name distilleries that most people visit so it was nice to see a small production process. The tasting at the end was nice but I did not care for their bottled Manhattan. If you enjoy Jefferson Bourbon then this is a must stop!

For those that are unaware Yew Dell Botanical Gardens has live music on Thursday nights during the summer, Bourbon and Botanicals. One of the sponsors and present at the event is their next door neighbor, Kentucky Artisan Distillery. Tonight was the night that I decided to try one of their bourbons. Besides the two young women who served as bartenders was an employee that was designated as the bourbon expert. She explained the various products available and helped me in deciding what to try. After all was said and done I had their Whiskey Row on the rocks. I was offered a soda if I didn’t like it. That was unnecessary as I found the bourbon to be quite smooth and refreshing. I didn’t know what to expect as the distillery seems rather small in comparison to a number of other distilleries I have visited over the years. And yes, I have completed the bourbon trail years ago. Obviously, size has nothing to do with quality. For those attending the Bourbon and Botanicals try a bourbon from the folks next door.

Unexpected delight. Had not heard of this distiller(they distill for Jefferson) and have a couple products of their own. Really enjoyed the tour and the story behind the products. We tasted a number of products; that's nearly the best part! Great little gift shop to get barrel staves, bourbon ball ice cube mold (great price), t-shirts, books, other paraphernalia and of course bourbon. Not far from Louisville and worth the stop for sure!

First let me say that I’m not a bourbon drinker. My husband is, and enjoys several brands. We had tried Jefferson’s, it is one I like so we had to visit the distillery. We ended up being the only ones on the tour which really made it wonderful. Our guide was fantastic. He was knowledgeable and spent time telling us the history behind the brand as well as how the distillery also bottles for other brands. The tour was good. Of course everyone’s favorite part is the tastings. This didn’t disappoint. Since I knew I liked this bourbon already I wasn’t surprised I liked all of their samples. The Oceans was very unique. This was the last of our week of touring the Bourbon Trail and we have to say our favorite stop.
