We were at Cumberland Falls on a 5 day trip and were waitlisted for the whitewater rafting so we were trying to figure out what else to do since we already did so much. (TIP: book whitewater rafting a week before you leave)
My 19 year old daughter thought the electric bike sounded fun. My 17 year old son though it sounded lame. I, who am pleasantly plump, was not enthusiastic about the idea. Despite the majority not being enthusiastic about the idea, our misconceptions quickly turn around during a quick test ride around the parking lot.
Those electric bikes have some power to them. You are still expected to peddle but I can only say those bad boys got some kick! Haha! I
There are some stone paved trails 1/2 mile down for where you pick up the bike at. You have to ride the main road but drivers are quite accommodating. They give you a map with different routes so there is a lot to see.
And a few points in time I made it up to 25 mph on some of the hills. Wow!🥰😂😂😅
By the time we were done our butts were sore but... my daughter bragged about her choice of activity, my 17 year old son was trying to find out if he could buy one of the bikes for homes, and I had no regrets.
A few bumps, bruises, 1 scrapped knee, but no regrets.
(TIP: It gets hot and humid out there even with an overcast. There is nowhere to stop. Where a light back pack with gatoraid/poweraid. Even though the bikes are electric and they help you still have to pedal and you can get dehydrated.)

We've probably been here a dozen times, whether it be camping, kayaking, or riding electric bikes, and every time has been more or less perfect.
It's always been affordable and has always gone without any hitches or hiccups. We are almost always able to book trips at the last minute so we know the weather will be nice

The rafting was amazing! Austin did an extraordinary job, he was calm, patient and highly skilled. He made all of us feel safe, as it was our first time in any kind of rapids. We went through Class 1, 2 and 3 rapids, and we would all go again. The water level was lower so the pace was a little slower and the weather was perfect. It’s not constant paddling, and we felt it was enjoyable with just enough action. We only had 4 people in our group plus Austin, and we aren’t athletes (ages 40s, 50s and 60s). Watch the safety video and then the website video, it will make you feel better about what you will actually experience. The whole group of rafts goes down the river together and helps each other the whole time. There are places to swim and the Jumping Rock, which two of us did! The big boat at the end is where everyone gets lunch and a nice ride back to a dock where the bus is waiting. It’s a full day of activity, but we were still able to do a few things in downtown Corbin afterwards.

My group and I embarked on a 24 mile, two day kayaking trip and planned to camp around the 12-14 mile marker. Upon our 1st mile, we ran into unexpected, challenging rapids that caused our youngest to flip (thankfully our gear is properly packed). Our issue came from the lack of communication and any guidance from the company we rented from. there was no indication that the water would be lower than ever before, which made finding campsites impossible due to extreme mud and no defined campsites or any markers along the river. we were essentially forced to either camp in a random patch of woods that was muddy and uncleared, or push on and complete all 24 miles in one night.
We purposely rented fishing kayaks so that way we would have more room to store stuff and so that it would be a sit on top kayak, however upon arrival we were told by the driver that these kayaks that were pictured online or downgraded for a cheaper design. The kayaks we were given were much worse quality than what we’re pictured online and made the experience much less enjoyable and harder to plan for. I can’t believe that we spent more money for the nicer kayaks but we’re downgraded without any notice and essentially mocked by our driver for choosing those.
In other kayaking experiences I’ve had, the company providing the kayaks were very helpful and gave many tips and places to stay and avoid, but here there was no communication other than to sign a waiver in case we damaged their stuff. Even the map given for where we would be going from (HWY 927), was very unclear as to where we would actually come to be picked up.
I would not recommend this trek for anybody unless you can find another company that would provide better services. Not being able to find any campsite past the 12 mile marker made it very difficult for us to have any good experience.

Very unprofessional. We scheduled the SUP x 5 people $240 and called because we were running late due to traffic and poor directions. They said we can still come and use the remaining time. We got there and were not allowed to use our remaining time, but they said we we could reschedule at 11 am on our departure day, We said “we are confirmed 11 am Wednesday “ she said yes. We arrived the girl said our time was at 1 pm. They moved us to 1 pm without letting us know. We did not get to go. I asked to speak with the manager Dania. Dania was unapologetic for her staffing schedule error. She said that they already held 2 time slots for us.
Long story short; $240 gone with no SUP.
VERY Disappointing. POOR customer service. Unprofessional staff.
Do not waste your money.

It was not worth the money. I had spent 1/2 of this in Tennessee and Colorado and was more exciting. We returned within 6 hours. (1 hour was hiking to Dog Slaughter Waterfall-which ended up being the best part of the trip-but some people didn't sign up to hike). We also took a 30 min break so people could smoke, which I thought was a little long. The rapids were little anyways, but our guide purposely tried to avoid them due to an older couple being in our raft. That was sweet that he tried to cater to their needs but 4 of us felt our need for excitement was disregarded. We did get a great view of the falls and our lunch on the riverboat was good.
I would suggest that when groups are placed together to have them fill out if they want to try to hit every rapid or if they want a smoother ride.

Sheltowee was the only rental service I found who would support unguided multi day canoe trips. Myself and 6 friends took 4 canoes on the blue heron to hwy 927 route along Bug south fork. We extended our trip to 3 days prior to leaving to enjoy fishing and 2 nights of back country camping. The staff was knowledgeable on the phone with assessing our ability and recommending a route. The pickup was on time and easy. Drop off was incredibly easy as well as we left the canoes at the ramp and just called to let them know. The trip went amazing and the scenery and camping was great! I’ve done other canoe rentals and Sheltowee was so much easier. If you are looking for a canoe camping trip I cannot recommend them enough!

Seeing the owner has berated every other negative review, I expect no less from mine. How about instead of putting down people who used their HARD earned money to patronize your place, you use our reviews to better your business to make it an amazing experience so that no one else has to go through such a time.
While this could of been an amazing experience, from the very moment we went to check in, it was the biggest disappointment. We came all the way from Florida and arrived just over an hour before ‘check in’ they literally made us wait in the parking lot even though the entire campground was all but empty (one camper was there). They are blaming COVID as extra precautions. When in reality they could of sent their people in the golf cart to pick up the 3 little pieces of trash (we watched) and hour before. That is just great customer service. About 10 minutes before check in we noticed two other campers headed to the camp site and went in and said hello. They could of called or stepped out of their building to say hey there go ahead. The fire pit is disgusting full of butts. The grill was equally disgusting completely overflowing of previous guests. As was the Dumpster and within downwind directly of our site.
The entire reason we chose this campground was the WiFi as I have a business to work. It didn’t work the entire time. We had to drive 10-15 miles to get service.
I have emailed them twice and went to the office twice and was told to go to the bathhouse. Went down to the bathroom at 10am on Thursday and someone was cleaning it and in there smoking. So headed to town again. Went to the bathhouse again NO WiFi.
We have to wear a mask In Their store but they can smoke in the bathhouses and work without one.
The entire place was a worn down mess. The playground just across from out site was a complete disaster. That was the first thing we saw when opening our door.
They mowed one day when we were gone and we came back to grass all over everything outside out our camper, rug, chairs, etc.
We actually abandoned our campsite the last night because we have a huge event online Saturday am, we have to have WiFi. This has to be one of the most disappointing camping trips we have had.
And one of the worse camping facilities we have stayed at.
Thank goodness we met a couple of other people that were camping to at least be able to say the entire trip wasn’t a waste.

My sister and I canoed the 2 day, 17 mile, upper section of Cumberland River. Most of the trip was absolutely AMAZING! The staff was friendly and helpful. Padding the river was relaxing and the scenery was beautiful! We picked a place to camp along the west bank. The sound of the moving water was so peaceful. There was a trail not far behind our camp site, so we expected to see hikers due to the perfect weather that weekend. Instead, what we encountered were groups of loud off-road vehicles. They drove past several times as the evening progressed, making their final pass around midnight. It was a little scary and unnerving. I notified Sheltowee Trace the next day in the event they were not aware. It would have been nice to know if this was an off-road touring company or rowdy drunk teens. This is the only reason I scored 4/5. When we got back on the water the next day, we noticed the trail seemed to follow the west bank, but we never saw any places to camp along the east bank. Overall, the trip was amazing and something we will definitely do again. Just be prepared.

RV trip and white water rafting

Cumberland River White Water Rafting starting at Cumberland Falls. The river was only 500-600 cfs due to several weeks without rain. So there was a bit more paddling than expected. But Blaine, our guide with Sheltowee Trace Adventures, was able to make it eventful….most of us were tossed into the river during the rapids. However, we all got wet on purpose jumping in to float along in the river. Some of us also braved the jump in at “Jump Rock”. The ride in the river boat with the sandwiches and chips may have been our most appreciated meal of the trip after hours rafting.
We stayed onsite with our RV for 4 nights. Plenty of space, good hookups, and solid ground. WiFi speed was excellent for streaming movies. AT&T and Verizon coverage in the area was bad so the fast WiFi was greatly appreciated.
The entrance is tricky if you have a long RV and towed vehicle.
Unlike most RV parks, you dont need to pull up to the office for checkin and really should not do so as you may get trapped by the tour buses if they are parked by the “office”which is their typical location when not in use.
A few large signs addressing specifically with directions near the entry and on grounds would help fix this problem.
Don’t miss it as you'll have to unhook your tow in order to turn around.
Large green areas for pets and walks.
Very nice staff.
Highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a place to make your home base for local adventures.

There is not. The small pond on-site has lots of frogs but no fish!

Do you know if the trails that allow dogs is close by? Any place for them to swim?
Written July 31, 2018
Yes, the trails on-site at the Adventure Resort, the ones at Cumberland Falls State Resort park and the trails in the Daniel Boone National Forest all allow dogs. I agree that letting your dogs swim in the river near Cumberland Falls would not be the best idea, but they can wade around in the various creeks in the area.

Is it a walking tour or boat tour to get to the base of the falls? Is it appropriate for toddlers (with parents of course)?
Written November 30, 2017
You can't quite get to the bottom of the Falls by walking, but you can get very close. We do also offer a Rainbow Mist ride, which is a raft that takes you up to the base of the Falls and back to the beach. It is an amazing way to see and feel the power of the Falls. Both of those options (walking and the Rainbow Mist ride) are appropriate for toddlers.
