Nalanda Archaeological Museum is just opposite to Nalanda ruins. We visited the same with entry ticket of Rs.5 per person; open from 9 AM to 5 PM. The museum displays various artifacts discovered from the ruins during excavation including statues of Buddha, earthen potteries, various terracota figures, semi-precious stones and alike, photographs before, during and after excavation. We spent around 20 minutes in the small museum.

This small museum has preserved samples of ruins which were excavated from the original site. Many stone idols are kept which are almost 2 millenniums old.

Barely 100 metres away from the Nalanda ruins is the museum. Very nicely maintained and catty remnants from the excavation.

Very nice museum consisting of various galleries storing various statues, artefacts and similar items. Most of them are damaged since they are from 5th century. But highly recommended.

Priceless artifacts

The museum is located opposite the Nalanda ruins and houses priceless artifacts made of stone, metal and mud, excavated from the site. Some of them have been damaged. Charred remains of rice (part of Nalanda was destroyed by fire) are stored in a bowl.

This is just opposite to the Nalanda University remains. It shows the excavated idols of Lord Buddha and other deities made up of black basalt stone and some other less commonly known materials. Placement of idols is good and cleanliness is maintained. Entry fee is Rs 5 per head which anyone can afford. Not for much time to spend but yes once can spend 30 minutes to see and read the artifacts.

museum of antiquarian objects
Dec 2017 • Friends
There is a beautiful collection of Buddhist and Hindu bronzes and a number of undamaged statues of the Lord Buddha. Two enormous terra-cotta jars of the first century stand intact behind the museum in a shaded enclosure. The collection includes copper plates and stone inscriptions, coins, pottery and samples of burnt rice.A rich wealth of stone sculptures and images, terracotta, bronzes and other antiquarian objects are preserved in its reserve collection. For those who are interested in history and architecture should must come here.It remains closed on Friday.
