New owners are renovating. This cave is the most beautiful in the area, so any improvements for tours can only enhance the experience. When it reopens, I hope you will visit! Not to be confused with Onyx Cave nearby.

We looked into going here after reading about how beautiful it was. When speaking with guide at Onyx cave she said the "crystal Onyx cave" closed awhile ago and they still get people confusing the two.

I'm writing this review because it seems that three different caves are being incorrectly reviewed under this category of "Crystal Onyx Cave". #1 The actual "Crystal Onyx Cave" is closed. It is located on Prewitts Knob Road and has been purchased by new owners recently who say that the cave has been neglected and needs major updating before they can... More

It was pouring rain the last day of our vacation and we didn't know what to do. We stumbled across the Onyx cave and for the money it was great. It was about minutes with about 6 people and a very knowledgeable tour guide. She loves the cave and you got to see things really close up! Kids loved it... More

Driving from Nashville to Chicago, we wanted to have a few local roadside experiences to justify driving vs flying. Mammoth Caves are highly promoted, but we didn't have time. Trip advisor pointed out Crystal Onyx Cave and it was all that reviewers said. Dramatic, colorful formations that you maneuver through with a guide that exuded passion and deep knowledge of... More

By far the best when it comes to just how spectacular nature can be. Definitely bring a camera, that is if you can even remember you brought it with you once you're there. The staff and guides are extremely nice and very kid friendly(wouldn't suggest too much younger then 7 or 8 to be honest) and are exceptionally eager to... More

This cave was different then the others in the area in that it was created by vertical waterflows. This resulted in some interesting structures and deep caverns. The guide was outstanding, explaining the geoligy with more detail then we have ever heard before on a cave tour.
