Founded in 1970, Jesse James Riding Stables has been serving the Kentucky area for over 50 years. Our mission is to provide quality and safe horseback riding experiences, while also offering fun and educational activities for children and adults alike. We are dedicated to making sure our clients have a great time and are safe while enjoying the outdoors. We visited Jessee James last July and another recent experience made me remember how wonderful this stable was. We visited the area to see Mammoth Caves National Park, and my 7 year oldloves riding horses. We booked a ride and drove over to the stables. The guides were very friendly and got each person on a horse they thought would be perfect for them. They spoke to us about the history of the area and the stories about Jessee James when he was there. It was a nice loop through the woods and a fields. They were very instructive to the the kids on the rise and new riders about how to handle their horses and would even stop and assist as needed. It was a great experience. Their horses were very calm, well cared for, and gentle. Exactly what a trail ride like this should have. I will definitely book with them again if we’re ever in the area! Highly recommended for those littles wanting to feel like a cowboy. After the ride we also visited the gem mine which was simple but fun as well.

First time riding a horse for my eight and five year old and everything went surprisingly well. My wife and I are not expert horse riders either. The five year old rode with my wife and the eight year old rode by herself. I though the horse riding staff was professional and friendly. They did a good job ensuring everyone was safe. Horses seemed to be well fed and taken care of.
The trail is beautiful as it weaves in and out of woods and a meadow. The trail goes about 2.5 miles and lasts about an hour. Cost was about $90 for our family of four (3 horses with wife and youngest daughter on one horse). Not cheap but a great experience my kids will never forget.

Jesse James Riding Stables offers lots of very tame and friendly horses, that are very well taken care of by their staff. Every time I have made it out to the Kentucky Action Park - the staff has been super helpful, kind and 'ready to help', usually getting me on the next available horse back ride. The cost to ride their horses is very affordable, and I would absolutely recommend this stop, for everyone who likes - horseback riding, mini golf, alpine slides or - anyone that is just in the area! It's a gem!

As we pulled up, one sign said Jessie James and one said Jesse James. That made the teens laugh because it was like they weren’t sure which spelling was correct.
The price was great ($6 per person). Note that you also get charged a fee if you use a credit card.
There was only one other family there when we were, so it was not crowded. Two of our four people won free games for being under par on hole 9.
The course itself is mostly flat with no obstacles. The blocks that line the course are partially crumbled or knocked over in spots. We redid a couple of holes because of that.
All in all, it gave us some good laughs and was a cheap activity.

We came for mini-golf (clean, fun theme shapes) and stayed to go horseback trail riding. The staff was amazing from the sales counter to the stables. It was our kids’ first time riding and the trail heads made sure they were comfortable and felt safe. All though nervous at the start they were all smiles for our hour trip. We bought the souvenir photos. The kids want to go again.

This is our 2nd time horseback riding here. There were 4 of us in our party and we joined another party of 2 along with the guide. As long as you have ridden before, and can balance yourself, weight restrictions can be flexible.
Our guide was Callie and she did a great job of engaging all people in the group and answering questions. She kept us informed about the area we were traveling and gave us tips on how each horse was unique and liked to be treated. The support team taking pictures and helping with mounting and dismounting was also very friendly and engaging. I would recommend riding here to anyone.

We have made this place a must visit every time we drive down to Kentucky. They let their horse roam free in the evenings on their 93 acre horse ranch unlike other stables that cage them at night. They have the most authentic horseback riding experience around with prices that are affordable for the whole family to enjoy. I will bring my friends and family with me to enjoy this attraction on every visit! Highly recommend!!

This was my 7 year old sons first time riding by himself & he loved it. Horses know the path so it wasn’t too much work for him & the trail is not too steep. Really nice ride through the hillside & the views are beautiful. Guides are great, they made us feel very comfortable

Justice is an awesome tour guide! My husband & I were killing time before checking into the hotel. We both hadn’t ridden in over 10 years. It was so HOT outside, but thank the Lord most of the trails were in the shade in the woods. We had a good time & everyone that worked there was so nice

Peaceful, safe easy ride on a path through the woods. Reagan our guide was friendly and informative. The Jesse James story was intriguing! We had a great time and bought a picture on the way out.

I weigh close to 200lbs and it wasn’t a problem (although the horse might disagree. - lol). I suggest calling the stable to ask.

The longest ride they offer is 2 hours.
I am sure you can just keep riding if you wish by paying to keep going, but you would just be riding over the same ground you already have covered--in other words, you would not be seeing new countryside.
