Went along with a visit to the Corvette museum which is basically next door. Absolutely fascinating. An absolute must see for any Corvette owner. Even my non car nut wife loved it

When they open back up for tours, I recommend that you go. Prepare to walk at least a mile, it could be more as they are going to be expanding the plant.

Closed since mid-June due to the plant readying to build the new Corvette engine. Museum staff project the plants tours will be available again in late 2018 or early 2019.

We were told on the tour it was 1000... 800 or so union workers and 200 engineers, managers.

The Chevrolet engineers boosted the horsepower of the 1987 corvette by 10 hp to 240 by the use of roller-bearing hydraulic valve lifters. I don't believe your 1986 will have them unless retro fitted. Joe Campbell
