We had a really nice meal and experience. Only thing I have negative say was our commentators use of working their butts off when he talked about the wait staff. The wait staff need an amazing job without his comments. We understand how to tip for service. However you should only feel that you need to tip on the meal not the train ride. When they bring the bill they recommend that we tip on total bill which for a table of 4 would be 90 +. Dollars.

This was a fun surprise train ride from my husband on New Years Eve. The food was good. Our server Amanda was excellent . We sat at table 2 , it's the closest table to the bathroom at the far end of train. The scenery for the first half hour is less than desirable but it does get better. My only complaint would be the windows could use a good wash so we could see out better. Overall I would recommend this for a date or time spent with family .

The food is just okay as is the scenery. The service is good but be advised, that if you go it’s best to go with a party of four because unless you pay extra, you will be seated with another couple. This can work out fine of course, but it can also be a problem. Considering the cost of the experience, in all honesty, I wouldn’t recommend it and I won’t be going again.

I loved this? So much fun riding and eating in a dinner car. The scenery was beautiful. My friend and I sat across from a lovely young couple.
The Hot Brown was so delicious. Mouth watering. Triple hearts. The Choo Choo Train was so cute you hate to eat it. I will definitely come again.

The food was great and we had a good time. However, bring a jacket because it’s super cold inside that dining car!! The train left on time and the servers were very good! Only draw back (besides the freezing cold temp) was they did not let you know the historical land marks as you were nearing them so it’s very easy to miss them. Also bring cash to tip your servers out at the end of the experience. Would recommend. Wish they offered the murder mystery dinner train more often.

Neat experience and worth doing at least once! A couple of girlfriends and I took the dinner train. The atmosphere is nice and neat for a first-timer like me. I was super excited. The food wasn't bad, it was ok. Large portions but a bit pricey. The train ride gives you a chance to eat and enjoy the scenery while conversing with whomever you're with. I ordered the charcuterie board along with the meal, It was too much. I ended up with leftovers from the meal and charcuterie board. Take the train ride, enjoy the scenery. Live a lil, it is a neat experience.

Great service by Ashleigh, nice overall setting, but a bit close (difficult to adjust seat due to seat behind). Take a sweater as it's cool.
Food was good (had flank steak & hot brown), but the steak was cold. Green beans were tasteless. Peach crisp was not like any "crisp" I've eaten. The chocolate choo-choo was delicious, coffee was great!
Wish the moderator would have pointed out points of interest as we passed by.
Trip was fun, nice experience, but doubt I'd go again.

The wait staff deserve 5 stars. Our server was delightful and made sure we were well taken care of. The food was delicious however I would like to note that the bbq shrimp and grits were not what was pictured. I could have made the same shrimp at home. I'm sharing a picture of what I was served. Compare that to the picture on their website and you will see the vast difference. That deserves 3 stars. The entertainment was marvelous. They also deserve 5 stars. We had a fun time during the murder mystery train ride. I just wish the dinner portion was as expected.

We've ridden on several different dinner trains in different states. This was by far our best experience! Excellent dining cars, beautifully decorated for Valentine's Day complete with roses. Food was outstanding! We had salad, prime rib, and strawberry shortcake. The meal had large portions and service was excellent. This is a first class operation.

My mom & I splurged a bit for my birthday & went on the murder mystery dinner train. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. Roundtrip was 2 1/2 hours through scenic Bardstown & the surrounding area, including Bernheim Forest, Four Roses & Jim Beam Distillery. The car we were in was very nicely appointed with plenty of room, which was good because the train was completely filled. I was impressed at how well the staff were able to carry large trays of food & drink without spilling while the train was moving.
The dinner was a four-course meal, & they said they change the menu every quarter. My mom & I ordered different entrees, but we both enjoyed them. The murder mystery play was performed in 3 acts during intervals, & while not the greatest in terms of story, was still entertaining without taking away from being able to enjoy the trip & food.
I highly recommend checking this out for people who like trains or want to try something different. The special excursions are a little expensive, but they also have regular lunch & dinner trains that are a bit cheaper. Just be sure to book a few months in advance, because from what I saw they sell out pretty quickly.

It runs what I believe is an old lumber route. It goes through some protected woodland areas and by several old distillery operations. Very pretty especially in spring and fall.

Can the dinner train accommodate wheel chair/disabled person? Four in our group with one in wheelchair.
Do you pick up & return to our hotel & is there a fee?
