Highly recommend taking the tour and bourbon tasting. Of all the bourbon tastings and tours I went on this trip, this was the best. Carly was very knowledgeable about bourbon and presented the tour to us all as we were a bunch of friends at a bar hearing a story. She pulled us in and made us feel like we were part of the family.

We arrived at this beautiful distillery driving past the Longhorns grazing in the field. Greeted by warm and welcoming staff and wandered around the tasting and retail space until we were greeted by our guide Jim. Jim was an excellent guide imparting all the information about Preservation and it’s philosophy of both preservation and sustainability. Jim educated us on their processes and showed us all the facilities but he really shined once we sat down at the tasting table. He guided us through the tasting in a way we all could relate too and buy the end even had the non-bourbon drinkers enjoying this liquid jewel! Highly recommend Jim as your guide! Thoroughly enjoyed this stop on the Bourbon Trail!!

A wonderful, educational tour of a small specialty distillery. Our guide, Jim, a retired teacher, was full of information and good humor. The story of this woman-owned business is interesting and the Bourbon samples were delicious (and only one of us is a Bourbon drinker!). The property is beautiful and includes a small herd of longhorn cattle. We really enjoyed our visit, and urge everyone on the Bourbon Trail to stop at Preservation

This was by far the best tour of a distillery while we visited Kentucky. Our tour guide, Carly did a wonderful job, educational and informative. They produce small batch bourbons, and we throughly enjoyed our tasting. They have some higher priced bourbons, which my wife and I felt were worth the money. We purchased three bottles, a Wattie Boone, a 15 year optimum proof, and a 81 proof summer rye estate reserve. I’m sure will enjoy these over the next few years to celebrate special occasions.

We did the upgraded tasting, and although it was pricey, it's pricey bourbons. Our tasting guide was great. I forgot her name though. She was fun, engaged and enjoyed her job. We enjoyed the tastings and will make this stop again on the next bourbon trip.

BY FAR the best bourbon we had on The Trail (we went to 9 Distilleries) Yes, it will set you back a few dollars but oh my gosh it's worth it. Iris was WONDERFUL, thorough, and simply a joy. We had a private tasting and her descriptions were the most accurate yet. We bought several bottles before leaving and a couple of sweatshirts! Recommend as a must stop on the Trail!

I chanced upon Preservation Distillery while looking for a bourbon tour in Bardstown KY. This is an up and coming distillery. Although they are still aging their initial batches of bourbon, there is an interesting collection of blends of several third parties, carefully selected by the owner, having a broad range of characteristics. They have the blends for sale and tastings. I did the tasting and was impressed. You should try them! I hope to try their first aged bourbons when ready. The distillery tour was nice but there is distillery noise that sometimes makes it difficult to hear the tour guide. Yet the tour guide was very knowledgeable. This distillery does small batches so the footprint of the distillery building is small but impressive. There is a nice gift shop. I purchased custom brewed coffee which is awesome. The staff is attentive and great! With patience and anticipation... I plan to return and recommend a visit to the Preservation Distillery!

We’d made this reservation somewhat last minute considering it was the weekend before National Bourbon Day but found an agreeable time slot. We opted for the tasting only. Wonderful atmosphere, well maintained. The gentleman who greeted us and checked us in was very friendly and we compared notes about distillery tours in Scotland and Ireland. The young lady who conducted the tasting was very informative and did a great job. We were unfamiliar with their products but enjoyed them so much I spent a good portion of a days pay on 2 of their bottles.

I was really excited about this “distillery and farm tour” that I booked as part of a Bourbon touring weekend for my husband for Christmas. I booked a 4 pm tour more than a month ago and had received really nice confirmation emails even the day before. When we got there we were informed the distillery was closed so the tour would be quick. It was. Maybe less than 10 minutes quick.

Our guide was not at all happy when we got there. She already had all of her stuff packed up and ready to go when we got there. It was pretty obvious from the moment we walked in the door that the last thing she wanted to do was deal with us. The previous tour was apparently full of drunk people who misbehaved, which stinks, but is also not our problem, and we paid to be here.

We were on vacation, and we love bourbon, so we were in it to win it, and she was much nicer once the tasting began, but then we learned their bourbon is blended and some is even produced in Canada. So if you’re wanting an authentic Kentucky bourbon experience, I would look elsewhere. The longhorn cattle were cool, but were not part of the tour and the bourbon was rough.

Definitely not ready by our native standards. You can skip this one for a few years and come back once they have a native batch.

Our trip to Bardstown area was last minute and so we did not plan far enough ahead to get into tours for many of the distilleries. Fortunately we were able to squeeze into a morning time slot for Preservation on the day we were leaving.

This is a very, very nice facility and they have definitely put a lot of time, money, and thought into the place. The tour was very informative, we got to see a lot, and the tasting was very good as well. There was a good discussion on how to evaluate and taste the products--something we didn't get on the other tour we attended. I definitely learned a thing or two.

We were told they started operations in 2017 but, because they are aging their products, they actually do NOT sell their own products yet. They intend to soon once the distiller determines it's ready. Do NOT let this stop you from going though as they have some very nice whiskeys and bourbons the owner has acquired and the tour was very much worth it.

I can't wait to come back and try their actual products when ready!
