An overcast cool Sunday may be the best time to go to Deanna Rose...skip the KC zoo and go hear instead. During the week it is free but weekends they charge a small fee.

My husband, son, and I are from out of state. We visited the Farmstead since we had time to spare- it's great! It's inexpensive to enter and LOTS to see- every educational!

They do charge on the weekends and holidays for non residents of Overland Park, but most weekdays are free and not very busy. Bring your quarters to feed the goats and fish. You can even bottle feed baby goats for a $1 or so.

Though it might get old for the parents, the kids really do love this place and it is refreshing to find a fun activity that doesn't require a $50 or more entry fee or computers / screens.

My three boys loved feeding the goats. We also fished and feed the ducks too. We live out in the country and might be adding some chickens and goats, so it was fun to see how our kids will relate to them.

I'm not sure. I've never been there yet. The best thing to do is call them for full details. Sorry!

My children are older now, but when they were that age (even under 12 months) they really enjoyed seeing the animals. My kids always liked feeding the animals through a fence. When they were really young I would hold them... More
